Alternative Fuel Coffee House

Smoothie was just okay. Menu says breakfast all day but kitchen closes at 3pm. Staff was friendly. Kind of dark. Christian worship music over the speakers.

I always love finding local coffee shops and bookstores when I move somewhere new. So I was so happy to find Alternative Fuel right next to Mitzi’s!! I’ve been here twice now and both times have been amazing. I usually come in with an idea of what I’d like but am open to suggestions by the staff because obviously they know their menu much better than I do. The first time I got a hot chai and oh my goodness!!! It was one of the most amazing chais I have EVER had! The second time I came, I sat in the cafe a while after ordering to read. I got the Orange Dreamcicle (I think that was the name). I was a little wary of it but it was so so amazing! I will definitely be returning and I have a feeling this will quickly become my favorite establishment to frequent on my days off.

I loved the fact that this was a decent bubble tea option at Rapid City SD. Awesome 👍

Stopped here for breakfast. Overall it was ok. The food was good but the coffee I had (with an extra shot) lacked flavour and body. The staff were polite and helpful enough but didn’t really engage which compared to other places we visited I. Rapid City felt a bit of a let down. The coffee shop itself lacked atmosphere - very quiet. And the final thing that wasn’t so good is we stayed in but was given a disposable paper cup rather than a China cup.

Absolutely wonderful!! They can make almost anything gluten-free, and it tastes amazing! Service is wonderful, as is the atmosphere! Perfect little coffee shop with tons of food options for a swing by during a day of shopping, or for studying!

I’ll try to be constructive instead of just complaining. The biscuits and gravy were swimming in gravy, not enough biscuit to gravy ratio-flavor was not great. The breakfast burrito-id scratch that from the menu, it’s just not good. We were told the burrito wasn’t spicy, and it was. A lot of mushy aspects going on there. The oatmeal came with nothing, just plain. Which okay, would have been nice to be told it didn’t come with anything else. The ham croissant sandwich (which you guys forgot one from the order I ordered two)-not sure what kind of egg you are using? was watery, mushy, scrambled egg type from a box), piece of ham thrown on top. Soggy. The breve was sickly sweet though I’d asked for half flavor, which apparently we were reassured there was. I do admit, I should have asked the gal to repeat the order back to me since it was a larger order to go. But that is also something a professional place should do, without the customer prompting them. I’m glad to see others are enjoying their experience here, we however were very disappointed.

This is my first google review but I was quite annoyed with the staff and customer service! Came by around 6:10pm the girl opened the door and said they were closed (closed at 6pm). I only asked for a cup of water for my dog as none of the other business around were open to sell water. The lady said there was a bucket of water outside I explained my dog was in the car. She said they couldn’t serve a cup of water at that time. Her demeanor was quite rude and I was very unimpressed that they couldn’t take two seconds to fill a plastic cup with water for a dog on a hot day. It’s fine I had to walk down the street to find another place that sold water, but how inconsiderate! I won’t be giving the coffee shop any of my business from now on.

When we first saw this place, we were not sure how much they offered in the line of traditional coffee and coffee drinks because of the name “Alternative Fuel.” We were pleasantly surprised to see an extensive menu of coffee and a very nice selection of food. The prices are extremely reasonable and the location and ambience were ideal. Will definitely be coming back when we are in Rapid again!

Such a perfect coffee shop! I love the atmosphere, music and staff! They have plenty of gf options which is amazing an unlike most places!!! Also, the coffee is delicious! I wish there were one of these in our hometown just like it!

DO NOT COME HERE!!!! Wish I could give 0 stars. The owner is EXTREMELY disrespectful!!! They didn’t tell me my drink had dairy when I asked about the ingredients and REFUSED to remake it when I asked (and told them that I am lactose intolerant). She instead told me that I wasted her product and it was my fault it wasn’t right. This was the WORST CAFE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE AND APPAULING. After my friends went in to try to help me, she also told them that we wasted the drink. I literally cannot digest dairy so the drink was a complete waste anyway. I am not the one that wasted the drink. It was the coffee house’s fault that the drink was wasted.
