Coffee selection is amazing!! Discovered all the syrups are house made. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food menu is great as well. Prices are great, especially since you’re paying for good quality coffee and food. Highly recommend (there’s a reason this place has 5 stars)!!

Great cafe. What matters is the coffee and it is excellent. The beans are carefully curated and the espresso drinks are handcrafted with the utmost care. There is now coffee nerd approved perfection available in Newport. Bravo!

Received recommendations to check this place out from the good people at Northeastern Coffee Equipment and my partner. Finally got a chance to check them out, and Simple Merchant exceeded expectations. The place was slamming, with a steady line, but the service was efficient and well organized. Barista on bar was communicative, so you knew exactly how long your wait would be, and offered options for a smoother ordering experience (you could wait in line to order in person or scan a QR Code and order from your table). Options on the menu range from classic to innovative, but all are done well. My espresso, drip coffee, and sandwich were all delicious. Would happily make the 30 minute commute to Newport just to visit this shop.

Very impressed with this craft coffee joint. Really friendly staff that recommended the perfect jolt. The old fashioned was delicious. Actually felt like I was drinking a cocktail when it was actually an espresso.
