Rudest and most ignorant staff I have ever encountered. Came in with my wife and her service dog and the person calling himself the manager immediately came to the counter and yelled at us that we needed "certification" and "paperwork" for the service dog. Having dealt with this sort of thing a number of times we know full well that establishments are not allowed to ask for either of those things according to ADA law. After mentioning this to the manager, he paused for a brief moment to reach around and insert the stick another foot up his rear, and then told us to get the hell out of his store and that he was refusing service. It's kind of comical how the dumbest people are always the loudest here. Oh well, I guess I'll have to get my generic chain dishwater coffee elsewhere.
Nice cafe downtown. Great selection of drinks along with good food options.
First class coffee and service and u can see it that the barista enjoy and are passionate about the technicalities in the coffee making process.
Good vibe, indoor long tables for study and outdoor chair for good weather. Busy when I was visiting and the staff are friendly.
The food was very good, a little dry though. Coffe was great!! I would visit again!
Nice place for coffee and conversation. Lot of students. Buzzing.
I don't drink coffee so I don't know how that is, but they have really great breakfast sandwiches and pastries and a super nice staff
Pistachio matcha was a bit sweet but still tasty. The atmosphere is cute and good for studying if you don’t mind a crowd
Really nice coffee shop, very friendly staff and great food. I got a chai tea latte and later ordered soup. I tried the pea soup and it was delicious and served with two pieces of multi grain toast. Coffee shop was busy and almost all tables were full, but we got a table. They have outdoor seating when weather is nice.
I always use to get single origin coffee beans from this place, however in last few months they just stopped printing "roasted on date" on packaging.. this just proves that they have intentions to sell stale coffee beans.. Coffee isn't bad though. Ambiance is also good. As many other coffee shops, expect to face "guilt-tipping". I support genuine tipping but not like this - where min suggested option is abt 40% of actual amount spent. Looks like owners are not paying genuine wages to employees even after charging premium for coffee & food.
The cutest chain in the Midwest. You'd think a chain would mean they cut corners but their specialty coffees are astonishing and delicious. Their burritos and sandwiches are bigger and better than Starbucks for essentially the same price. All the locations are unique and service is always fast and kind. Perfect for a quick bite or an afternoon of studying.
Dropped in this morning for a drink and had a great experience. The barista was so friendly and helpful in making recommendations. The day was beautiful and outdoor seating was already set up.
Great place to go study, read, drink a nice coffee and eat. Coming here for the second time today!
I have loved Colectivo Coffee for years, was excited when it opened a location in downtown Evanston a few years ago, and have enjoyed going there. Until yesterday evening, when I stopped by for a cup of hot tea and to read for a bit before another meeting. At 6:55 pm, an employee loudly announced that the place would be closing at 7, and everyone was expected to leave. I was not finished with my tea (and was taken aback by the announcement), so I sat for several minutes to finish. Promptly at 7, the same employee approached my table to say "It is now 7 pm and we are closing." I nodded, he turned away, but then turned back and added "That means you have to leave." So I left. But I won't be coming back.
Coffee is excellent and up to par with other collectivos. Lots of staff to help take orders and clean. Place is super busy and packed, but there is a lot of seating. Good place to get work done.
…fast and friendly service, a favorite spot to work
Visited a colectivo after a long time. Loved it.
Super beverages. My husband and I just stopped in for a coffee before a performance at Northwestern. All the tables were full, but luckily one lady was kind enough to move from the wheelchair accessible table so we could have a seat.
I experienced a very disturbing situation at this coffee shop. I love to patronize local businesses when I travel since my daughter is a Northwestern student, I have been looking for a place in the area, and this one had pretty good reviews, so I thought I would try. After today’s experience, I will not be back, and the situation left me feeling so icky that I thought it necessary to share. There was a table of a few young ladies studying with items they purchased from the shop. A third young woman walked in with a small bag from another coffee shop, and he immediately said that she should not bring in outside food and drink. First, with this being a small local business, I understand where he was coming from, and to have said it once and left it alone would have been appropriate. However, he continued to make an issue of it by coming to this table repeatedly and even grabbing a sign and pointedly reading it in front of them. His actions were unnecessary, and I was extremely uncomfortable watching this unfold and could see how uncomfortable the girls at the table were. The scene he made was uncalled for. He was so loud that almost everyone in the shop turned to see what was going on. It makes me wonder what his true intentions were.
July 6, 2022 The only 8 ounce hot espresso drink is the flat white. It’s a full double shot of espresso. I ordered mine with a bit, not too much, chocolate sauce. It was excellent! Darker roast. Nice foam and steamed milk.
