A lovely weekend getaway around Pittsburgh area. It’s just one of the most amazing places I’ve stayed in with my husband. The place is really cozy, extremely clean, the mattress and bedlinen are unbeatable, the atmosphere is quite relaxing, suitable for couples and there’s a beautiful property to explore. The owner was very friendly and you can expect him and his adorable daughter to be preparing themselves your breakfast! What a great experience! Ps: we’ve been welcomed with the best blueberry and lemon cookie I’ve ever had!
Our trip included dining, massages, and a proposal! The food was delicious. Our massages were so relaxing! The employees decorated our cabin with red rose petals, lights, champagne, and the most beautiful bouquet of roses while we were at dinner! I was so shocked and surprised by the whole event-and of course said “Yes!” Their attention to detail and effort made our special occasion even more amazing! This was our second time at Oak Lodge and we can’t wait to come back! No matter the task- they exceed our expectations every time!
I had the pleasure of staying at Oak Lodge for a wedding taking place on property. Accommodations: We got to stay in the moose themed Cabin 10 and it was wonderful. You have a screened porch with rocking chairs. As you walk in you are hit with the smell of white pine and mountain air. Climate controlled with a gas fireplace. There is a wet bar with a small fridge. The bathroom is enormous with a whirlpool tub. Unfortunately I think we were the first to stay in this cabin since the lockdown because when we turned the whirlpool on the jets were a little gunky. The shower is amazing with HOT water. We had no issues with water pressure or temperature. And the floors in the bathroom are heated. Glamping at its finest.
Chef John is amazing. We were early arrivals so we were able to have family breakfast with the groom’s family and chef John took care of us. Excellent food and conversation. You can get maple anything and he made fresh sausage for breakfast for the whole party.
The wedding venue was excellent. Delicious food in a rustic atmosphere. Despite the rustic surroundings the venue was able to pull off the brides elevated vision. Impressive place.
Definitely on our list for mountain getaways. Wish we had more time to explore historic Stahlstown.
Be warned though that the cabins and property are built on a mountaintop with topography to match.
What a wonderful way to spend the weekend— in the beautiful tree-filled setting, with peaceful hikes, amazing food and comfy, cozy cabin amenities. We enjoyed the jetted tub, fireplace, screen porch, skylights, and hiking to the historic chapel and Sugar Shack!
The Cafe staff was friendly and the food was fresh, and oh so yummy!
Oak Lodge is a gem - a delicious and reasonably priced one at that! Tucked back in the woods, the cafe atmosphere was perfect for my wife and I. Outdoor seating under an umbrella. Even in the winter, they have a natural gas fireplace and overhead heated outdoor corridors. The space is so inviting and beautiful. Got a tasty shrimp taco (that I needed only one of) for $7. Could have gone into the $20 range for steak and others, but lots of unique and well-priced options. Their beer battered pretzels looked like buckeyes, tasted amazing, and were far too numerous to finish with dinner. We shared a crème brûlée to top it all off (and couldn't eat the rest of the night)! With the friendly staff, this place must be awesome for weddings, which is why the cafe is only opened from Tuesday through Thursday. You won't regret this choice!
We just stayed here for the second time. A few years back, we stayed in the Eagle's Nest room over the office. That was cozy, clean, comfortable, and we had a great time there. Now there have been a bunch of cabins, which we tried on Memorial Day weekend. The cabins are terrific, with features such as heated bathroom floor, gas fireplace (it was cold for late May), king sized bed, screened porch, and wifi. We had breakfasts and some dinners at the cafe. Chef John and the entire staff at the cafe were great. The food very good, with enough options and variety to satisfy. Everything was very fresh and nicely plated.
The location is rural, woodsy, and hilly, but there is much to do. There are great hikes, fishing in ponds and streams, and many buildings on-site to explore.
Our biggest take-away from our time at Oak Lodge are the staff. Matt, John, and all the others are as friendly and accommodating as you will find anywhere. The rooms and grounds are kept beautiful, and they take obvious pride in all that they do.
Oak Lodge was the perfect mountain escape! It truly exceeded our expectations. The cabin was beautiful, clean and so comfortable. We loved how quiet and private it was around our cabin. The welcome cookies were delicious! The heated tile floor, board games that came in the cabin, and electric fireplace were the perfect touch. The hot tub had surreal views, and we loved how it was set up in a greenhouse. Chef Jon was extremely welcoming and prepared for us the most delicious breakfast each morning. We loved the food so much that we took home our own bottle of Jimberg syrup! 100% would recommend for a weekend getaway. Thank you Oak Lodge!
We arrived at Oak Lodge and were able to go directly to our cabin for a contact-less check-in. The staff was quick to reply via text message to any request we had. With being able to go straight to the cabin it felt like a true getaway. Chef John had excellent breakfast every morning which we enjoyed on the enclosed and heated patio space. We also enjoyed dinner while there at the Cafe which had excellent value and large portions. The spa treatments were some of the best we had anywhere. It was a great way to relax after exploring the state parks and the hiking trails at Oak Lodge. We will definitely return!
My husband and I wanted to get away for two night and we came across finding this wonderful place. We stayed at cabin number 18 and we loved it. Super cozy and absolutely clean. The king size bed was super comfortable and the bedding was amazing. I absolutely will recommend it to all my friends and family. My husband and I got couple 90 min Swedish massages and it was great. The Cafe was also excellent, the only complaint I have is that we took lots of naps and over ate at the Cafe. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Fantastic location and staff ! Both the lodge and cabins are in a serene location with abundant space and trails to explore. John at the cafe whips up splendid breakfast every morning while the staff at night provide plenty of decadent options for dinner. Matt at the office/store can give a great description of the history and evolution of the family property for anyone interested. Would highly recommend this for a soothing getaway.
