Grendel's Coffee House

I just had the most amazing breakfast of pumpernickel bagel and lox with capers, onion, tomato, and cream cheese. Made by the owner who, even though I rarely come in, remembered me and made this treat a delight as everything else. The sanctimonious bad reviews here look to be more blackhat SEO done by either local competition or those who probably need to be offended more often.

Stopped by here with my sister on a whim and tried the lavender mochas. My first impression was that it was so comfortable in there. The lady at the counter was really friendly and kind. I would absolutely come back if I'm ever in the area again. The lavender mochas tasted amazing. Not bitter and not too sweet. The lavender to chocolate ratio is spot on. Five stars!!

Cozy coffeehouse that makes you feel welcome and at home. Really unique flavor combos for espresso drinks. I especially loved the gingerbread mocha!

I’ve been several times over the last few years while on walks around the neighbourhood. Always top quality coffee and service. It’s a little slice of old Portland which makes it more appealing.

Very slow to get a cup of coffee. Food for everyone came out well in advance of a simple cup of coffee. And then the coffee was watered down. I won’t be returning.

Absolutely delicious lavender honey latte with super fluffy foam, perfect for a morning that started too early. The cheese Danish and cheddar sausage breakfast sandwich were also great and I got to have everything in house. It's a pretty quiet place but has a steady flow of customers and the two baristas had such delightful energy

Wow. Everything here is delicious! I ordered a variety of food and drinks for the family. The friendly staff treated everyone who came through like regulars. The lemonade is just sour enough to feel it without making you pucker. Coffee drinks made the coffee snobs and "just regular coffee" types happy. Try a breakfast sandwich. It'll make your day! Will be back... Often!
