One of the best soy lattes I've had in Portland!

Very good quality coffee. I'd come here a lot more if they offered more to eat, they do have some cookies and biscuits and such.

Friendly staff (well, used to be, still mostly nice), tables and chairs (not a sofa place), good coffee and a nice outdoor seating area far enough from the street to be comfortable. Had to drop my rating from 5 to 3 stars because the bad vibe I got on my last two visits has resulted in our switching from having extracto changing from our go to coffee roaster to a joint we’ve not visited for months. We’re looking forward to a new roaster opening up a block towards Alberta on 30th Ave and Emerson that, according to the builders, be very dog friendly.

Latte art did not disappoint, and the coffee had an excellent aroma and flavor. I also tried a Queen of Sheba Chai, which was good. The atmosphere, though, was kind of conflicted. Tables felt kind of cramped, and overall it seemed to lack the kind of warmth that I so appreciate with my coffee. This cafe was missing a "welcoming" and comfortable quality in the environment.

Great coffee! I wonder if they roast darker than the rest. Portland is notorious for it's medium roast coffees and I'm more of a dark roast guy (read: Portland coffee rarely impresses me. Salt Lake City has better coffee IMO). Extracto seems to buck this trend, or maybe it's my imagination. My only gripe is that it gets noisy when the place is full. Add some brown carpet or something. :)

When you walk in, you are greeted by a friendly "Hello!" that comes from the also friendly barista. You look around for a moment and instantly are attracted not only by the menu and food selections they have, but also by the character of the shop itself and the aroma of delicious coffee.
Me and my wife walked up to the barista who was very pleasant to conversate with, and had him make us a drink he would deem worthy of consumption. And let me tell ya, it was awesome.
We sat down at a wooden table by the window. The table showed that it had been proudly used well. The light flooded in on it through the window to expose scratches and wear from many years of use. It was almost like an art piece. One that bolstered heavy character. And that's the vibe I gathered from the whole place. The borderline rustic/industrial feel made for a very lovely aesthetic. But it only got better! After sitting down, I put that lovely cup of coffee to my lips and I was almost blown out the window. :P It was a very strong, well presented cappuccino that excited my palate. The barista had done his company proud by creating a cup of coffee for me and my wife that was absolutely, downright awesome.
Overall: The good service paired with an excellent, cultured atmosphere and the great products the offer; turned me into a believer. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

Excellent coffee and tea
Blue Tulip
This is a nice place in NE Portland. It is actually close to where I live, I usually have to drive longer to get to good coffee shops. Plus it is close to my church ---so this will definitely be my new fav ! It is good for studying or just hanging out. The baristas are nice and friendly.

One of the best coffees I’ve ever had. Love the décor inside. Staff was extremely nice.

The espresso is extremely good, and I have enjoyed purchasing their beans to use at home too.
They are always busy, and it takes a while to get coffee, but I suppose that's just a testament to their quality
