Maybe it's the new lease I signed today, or maybe it's the waking up well rested, but I was craving a non-sticky surface for my laptop, and the complete absence of screaming, drunk sports fans. So here we are...
With plenty of seating, even when it's fairly busy (Sunday early afternoon) - it's not crowded. Friends gather to chat and catch up, there's probably a few other ambiverts working nearby, and while the music is loud enough to create ambiance I can still rock Taylor's new album in my headphones.
There's a limited pastry case, but what's inside looks delicious... possibly a jalapeƱo biscuit? It'd be easy to spend an afternoon here, unbothered by life and its obligations outside.

First time visit. Great espresso, friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful presentation!

We've seen signs for coava beans all throughout the area and figured this would be a great place to try out. Upon entering, we were pretty excited by what seems to be a true third wave coffee shop that prides themselves in their beans, process, flavor, and experience. I saw another customer get served a latte with beautiful latte art which kept my hopes high.
Between the 4 coffee lovers in my group, we tried a black drip coffee and both espressos they had available. None of us really like any of them very much. The girl who got the drip says "tastes like regular coffee". My boyfriend and I, who are espresso chasers, did not like either of them. I think they have good technique (well balanced shot, good body, healthy crema-- almost a necessity in the Portland coffee scene), but the beans themselves were lacking. Flavor is highly underwhelming and none of the tasting notes were tasted.
Tl;Dr if you care about the complexity of your coffee and espressos, don't come here. If you don't then this place is fine? There are too many other delicious places that honestly idk if I'd even truly recommend that.

Best coffee place I went to during my 5 day trip to the Pacific Northwest! I had the Honey Latte it was so delicious. Good quality coffee with great rich flavor, the coffee was not so strong that I couldn't taste the honey water. It was great!

Really nice on the inside. They have a good cold brew as well.

Great coffee! Be sure to pick up some beans/instant coffee if you're visiting.

The seating was uncomfortable, the music was loud (and had songs with slurs, not my vibe), and the drinks were not good. Connected to a lobby that echoed so loudly I couldn't think. Not a good place to get work done. Two stars for nothing terrible happening.

One of the best cups of coffee in town. Coava is the place you go on a rainy day to relax with a warm cup and take everything as it comes.

Very tasty coffee, one of the best 3rd wave roasters I've tried. Very cool setting as well.

Tried 3 places today....yes...addicted to coffee. This one was the best tasting and creamiest milk. Great service
