This restaurant boasts large servings of excellent food, relatively fast serving time, and extremely friendly waiters. Cute inside and outside family-friendly seating, a location near one of the only hotels in Dayville, and a very complete kids menu make it a great restaurant for visiting families. Oh, and did I mention that they have amazing food?

In the Spring and summer of 28 teeth my husband and I 1st aid here because we were coming to look at a ranch West of town to buy.
Well we bought that ranch and since then we've eaten there a lot and the owners are the best people in the world they are so kind and considerate and great neighbors to have.
The people that work there a servers we've come to see as really wonderful people.
We love our new home And we know that we are extremely lucky to be able to live here.
The cafe is open from Wednesday through Sunday.
The hours I believe Are about 7 or 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. except for Sundays queer they close at 4:00 p.m..
There is actually quite a bit of seating inside though the restaurant doesn't seem that big and there is also seating outside about 4 tables.
You can get food to go if you like to call them and let them know what You want.
Their breakfast is all amazing. Greg makes the best eggs Benedict.
Lunch and supper are also amazing.
His crab cakes are the best I've ever had. His crab cakes are the best I've ever had
I love the BLT with Ava cado and their homemade fries.
Let's talk about pie.
Their pie is nothing short of amazing antice just like home Made.
Yummy flaky crust and wonderfully set up custard type pies and cream pies of any sort that you'd like along with Berry pies the list goes on.
I bet they'd even take request from you as we got them to make a sour cream raisin pie though they do make a Lemon sour cream raisin pie.
My mother in law quite honestly made the best pies I had every and these are just as good as hers so this place being voted at 1 time number 3 for pies and the state of Oregon must be true because I can't even imagine better pie.
And I found out if you take in 6 of the pie plates after you've bought 6 of their pies you can get a free pie.
And I have like 12 of them and still haven't done that.
Please eat there it is wonderful.
You will not be sorry at all.
If you find that service I'd have been slow for some reviewers you have to understand that Greg only has one grill back there and the waitresses are doing the best that they can.
Don't just go sit outside without coming in 1st because sometimes people sitting outside are easy to miss for the staff.
As far as gluten free menu I doubt there's really much of that because it is a small place.
Anyhow, just did there it is amazing and we love our small town cafe.

Asian Tacos

Very dissatisfied and disappointed.

My meal was not complete and poorly cooked yet still paid full price.

The owner/cook was in a bad mood and pretty much didn't care that day, I unfortunately was the recipient of his unwillingness to separate personal life with his job.

Had their bourbon honey pork dinner special and a taco salad..... Absolutely delicious!!!! The waitresses were wonderful... great spot for a home cooked meal!!!! The waitresses even helped us find a local rustic cabin to lodge in that very evening!!!! Highly recommend!!!!!

We stop at this little cafe when we travel from the Portland area to John Day. Warm, cheery, and welcoming. Home cooking is reliably good quality. Great home made pies.

What a great place! Stopped here on our way from Boulder, CO to Portland, OR for a wonderful meal! Locally grown beef is used and everything, down to the salad dressings, is home made and fantastic. The couple who run the cafe are so nice and daily specials leave you spoiled for choice. Stop by on your way through or if you're in the John Day Fossil Bed area and don't skip the milkshake!

Excellent home-cooked meals and pies. Every thing I've tried so far has been over the top. I would definitely recommend this place.

Pie, pie, pie. So many pies to choose from by the slice. Even more whole pie choices you can order today and pick up tomorrow. Stop here. Don't pass by without at least one piece of pie! Our preference was the berry pies.

Great food, big portions, clean, cute. Wonderful service from Toni!! She's super charismatic and professional. A party of 5 on Memorial Day: we had everything we needed.

Just face it, AMAZING food!! Another thing I like about Dayville Cafe is the fact that they don't have TV's playing and no loud music. Overall a VERY nice place. And the Gorge burger has become a family favorite of ours( you should give it a try, you won't be dissapointed)
