I had lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy.
A sign said to seat yourself
and I sat down in a booth near the back.
After a short wait, I ordered the grilled chicken without the pepper jack cheese
with a salad and ice tea.
The order arrived in about fifteen minutes. The bun was toasted with mayo and had chicken, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and lettuce.
A great tasting sandwich with a leafy green salad. The server checked in on me several times and refilled my iced tea.
She asked me if I wanted pie and pointed to a board with a large selection. I selected peach pie to go. The pie had a great crust and the peaches were firm without an overwhelming amount of sugar.
I would recommend this cafe near the Sheep Rock Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds.

This was the best dining experience of our entire trip. An absolute oasis. Best service, nice size portions, delicious food and the kids got icecream with their meal! The girls bought handmade crayons at the counter that kept them busy for over an hour. Love!!

The food was amazing! The pie list alone, when I saw it, rivals even the biggest restaurant chains! It is impressive. They are delicious too! Wouldn't be surprised that they don't end up on a top 10 best places to eat in Oregon. 😁 Can't wait to travel over for a bite to eat again! Bought a cool Sasquatch decoration there too. They have local artist art for sale as well!

Hidden Gem is the best way to describe a place like this. Painted Hills 10 oz rib eye dinner with all fixin’s and a selection from a list of PIES included in the price of the meal and Impeccable service. You would be hard pressed to find another restaurant in the entire State of Oregon with the capability to serve a party of 9. Pie slices so big you can get a “half” of a slice. Bravo!

Hands down the best pie in three hours, any direction. Wonderful customer service, friendly staff, and a fun dining atmosphere. You can eat inside or out, get your pie in slices or whole, or eat desserts before dinner. Delicious, fun, and reasonably priced. Do yourself a favor and drop in to the Dayville Cafe.

A very pleasant place to stop for a meal. Ambiance is great. Service was great. The hamburger and the pie was really good. This place actually has pie worth eating.

We absolutely LOVE having this cafe here in our little corner of the county! Everything is made from scratch and excellently prepared and serviced. Friends come over from Central Oregon just to eat here! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, but the chicken fried steak is among the best I've ever had, and I consider myself a chicken fried steak connoisseur.

The Dayville Cafe is fantastic. We had lunch there & our salads were excellent & Big!
Sunday we had breakfast & we couldn't believe the size. A piece of country sausage the size of a dessert plate, hashbrowns that filled the plate.....the best Egg Benedict...be sure to stop in. Homemade Pies, too.
Lovely waitress!🍳😊

Had steak dinner and marion-berry pie. Steak was much more flavorful than most - notably better. Can recommend the pie also. The food at other tables looked good also. I'd stop again if ever in the area.

Excellent. Real food, nothing from a freezer bag. The hamburger and fries were excellent. Our waitress was so cute and did a great job. Everything is very clean. Will stop again.
