The portions are huge. We shared the meatballs and Lad’s Chicken sandwich. Both were yummy! I loved the little sprouts sprinkled on the meatballs a very nice touch. The pickles with the sandwich were crunchy sweet. Loved the hand cut fries they were the size of steak fries. There was a 45 minute wait for the table for lunch.
Our first time eating here. We heard about this place from all the locals and thought we would drive up and try it. The wait was 5 minutes to get a table; we heard the line is usually out the door. We tried the pot pie, country fried steak, chicken parmesan, and beet salad. We also had biscuits (delicious with homemade jam) and side salads. The food was delicious and Amber, our waitress was extremely attentive. There is also a nicely stocked store attached with various shirts, books, kitchenware, etc. The upstair area offers desserts- we were full and passed on that.
If you visit Pawtuska, OK make sure to stop in. Awesome food! Quart of sweet tea for 25 cents! The retail area has all of the current Pioneer Woman merchandise you are looking for.
A real treat! We got the chicken pot pie(which is made with their biscuit dough) and it was rich and creamy, so delicious. Also got the pork belly which was amazing, could really taste the Dr Pepper and Chipotle. Now....the garlic parmesan fries....those need a warning on the menu! It was about 3lbs of french fries absolutely covered in garlic and cheese. It was enough to feed 6 people as an app. Highly recommend the fires!
I enjoyed shopping & lunch. Be prepared to wait to be seated at the restaurant. It was an hour and a half wait & we arrived at 11. I got the chicken sandwich, pretty good. My husband got the Dr Pepper Pork Belly & Grits *$17.)... man was that great! I'll probably order that next time around. I don't even like grits. Upstairs I got the Cowboy Coffee drink $3.50, it had a kick...a little spicy going down the throat, but I liked it. I thought all the store items were very overpriced, but that tourist shopping for you.
Mercantile in Pawhuska Oklahoma: This place belongs to one of my wife's cooking heros, Ree Drummond, also known as the Pioneer woman. The store portion is packed full of things designed for those that enjoy cooking. If you don't (like me) you will find little joy in wondering around here. But all is not lost! There is an amazing bakery upstairs full of things to make your blood sugar go off the charts! Along with that back on the bottom floor is a restaurant that we are in and the food was fantastic and reasonably priced.
Food is delicious and staff is very friendly. I felt like many items in the mercantile were over priced but I guess it's to be expected. I would definitely recommend visiting.
Great food and atmosphere! Cinnamon rolls are also delicious. We had breakfast, shopped the town then went and had a late lunch. Sweet tea for $.25!!??? Yes!!
We had breakfast and it was fabulous! By going early, we missed all the long lines and got right in and spent time shopping after before it got too crowded. Wonderful experience
June 6, 2017: The Mercantile was new and I was taking a trip from NC to visit here and also Waco, TX. First stop, here. It was crowded but not excessive. Lots of shopping for things that were all made in China. Since I'm writing this review again (the first disappeared), I can now say that the green glasses I purchased all lost their green color and turned clear after a couple of washings in the dishwasher (there was no warning not to). Other items I purchased, and there were many, favored better. I had coffee and a dessert upstairs and sat comfortably on a couch. I really enjoyed myself but I wish there had been more local goods (local artists, local products) sold here rather than everything from overseas. I could have just shopped online for those things.
