I really enjoyed the (hot) Blackberry Latte. My wife got the (hot) Chai Tea Latte and she really enjoyed it too. The atmosphere was cozy. The smells were great. The service was helpful and fast. It was my first time but I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. I didn't try other coffee places but I would recommend this one all the same.

A busy little coffee shop located in downtown Mount Vernon, Ohio. Happy Bean is a bright and joyful place to study, have a meeting, or just hangout with friends enjoying a coffee, tea or pastry, though it's important to note that they don't serve food other than light pastries.
One unique thing about Happy Bean that is sure to catch your eye is every hot drink is served with an encouraging message written on the side of your cup, and after talking with several patrons it seems that each little message was somehow a piece of sunshine to whatever day they were having. Good or bad.
Happy Bean is located inside Mount Vernon Nazarene University's, Hunter Hall building, on the first floor just as you walk into the building from Main Street. The atmosphere of Happy Bean is different from what we've experienced in other coffee shops, apart from the bustling and sometimes noisy background, there seemed to be a sense of community among the patrons, partially due to several of them being students at the same University; however we also gathered that pastors from local churches and business owners frequent the shop and are inviting and fun to talk with!
The staff likewise mirror these attitudes; they helped us fumble our way through the menu, and also told us what their personal favorite drinks are. Overall we rank Happy Bean 4 out of 5 stars. It's clean and fun, and definitely a good choice for an afterwork meeting with a friend or even a cute, relaxing date with your loved one. We recommend their Mocha and the Berry Jam tea with Lemonade. :)

Cute little coffee shop on Main Street! The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was wonderful. We came for a little anniversary date and will definitely be coming back!

Happy Bean is a great place to get a coffee (hot or cold) and get some work done! I really enjoy getting an iced mocha and working on my laptop. The atmosphere is nice and calm and it’s perfect for working on your laptop. Tons of outlets and seating. The iced chai latte tastes like a gingerbread cookie - so good!

Happy Bean is a great addition to Mount Vernon. It's located in kind of a hidden area. That's what's the worst about it. If you can find it you'll be happy. The coffee is good and the prices are better than most places.

It may be hard to find this at first. It's inside a building of MVNU. There's a sandwich board outside. It has the additives you might figure they don't have. There's almond and soy milk. It's about $3 for a regular coffee. There's also some light food too like pastries.

I would get to Happy Bean if you're in town. It's better than many of the overpriced hipster cafes. The coffee still is good quality and it's cheap too.

Very nice place to stop for coffee in Mount Vernon. Today me and my friend Fraser got to this coffee shop riding our bicycles on the bike trail from Fredericksburg, it was awesome stopping here for a good iced coffee, The ladies who were working in the coffee shop were very kind.

My lemon muffin was good but not exceptional. I found the medium roast black coffee bitter.

One of the best coffee in town!

I had a delicious hot chai with hazelnut. The baristas were super friendly and the atmosphere was bustling and welcoming.

Nice staff. We got Americanoes (proper pluralization?) and my favorite, an apple fritter! The fritter was paler than I've usually seen them, which makes me wonder what makes darker fritters dark. Very apple-y and sweet. Perfect.
