Absolutely loved it. The atmosphere of this place drops you into a time machine and serves you coffee and drinks from something out of the 40s. Cigarette machine and red velvet couch included. Nice patio but a tad small. Not really a significant factor as the coffee house stands on the entire presentation of the place as a whole. Will be going back often.

First time visiting on the first cold day of the season and it was perfect. Free WiFi, games, seating in every nook-and-cranny including the back deck complete with a fireplace and tons of outlets for your phone charger or laptop. Coffee drinks were so delicious, server was friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant is quite quaint and nostalgic.

I've been here a few times and wasn't very impressed. The drinks are over priced and the staff is very rude when you don't know what you want. I was in there today and ordered a drink on tap. I didn't feel I received service that warranted a tip--he came once and just poured the drink. I wanted another but he never came back around. He called me out for not tipping and told me that I was wasting table space and to not come back if I wasn't going to tip. Normally I tip well over 20% but with the price I paid for my drink and the service I received I'm glad I didn't tip the "server". Rude!

I know I've seen both hot and cold reviews for this place, but I have always felt welcomed and attended to when I visit. The coffee selection is vast, and you have the option to add stronger libations 😉 to it as well. The Kaoke is definitely my favorite. Also, when I tell you they make the best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had...don't take my word for it, just try it for yourself. It's incredible!

Bar tender was beyond chill, drinks and coffee were good, I enjoyed it.
The only negatives were that after hearing this toted as a chill atmosphere to come study and grab a drink I expected that. The crowd got fairly loud and dense as the evening went on. Couple that with very small tables, not always the best study situation. I would go back, just not with as many academic goals.

I really enjoyed my time here! The coffee and food were phenomenal and the atmosphere is great. That being said, last time I was there, there was some pretty vulgar writing on the walls in the bathroom that could (and probably should haha) be painted over. Other than that, I really love this place and when I visit Cincinnati again, I will definitely come back!

My friends and I went to a coffee shop to study and had to leave because they closed. We came here and brought our to-go cups in with us with every intention to order from their menu, knowing it would be rude to come sit without ordering anything. We found a table and ROB MYERS came over to hand us a menu - before he even let us grab the menu from his hands he yelled at us and told us to get out because we had cups with us. I understand not wanting us to bring another cup in - but he could have politely asked us to finish it outside or even throw it away before sitting down. Instead he was incredibly rude and demanded we leave before we even had a chance to SEE the menu.
We were fully ready to spend our money ordering food & drinks. His loss - lost our business that day and forever - will never be returning.
I can see from other reviewers this is not uncommon behavior from him & other staff. Can't stand rude people.

Highland Coffee House is the king of the independent cafes in Cincinnati. There are few like it in the Midwest USA. I came here three nights while I was in town. The baristas are very nice, there's a man with glasses and beard, I do not remember his name, but he is a photographer and pleasant conversationalist, and his girlfriend is a very nice person also, and the main barista Jay is a most fascinating man who was once a musician touring with the legendary reggae band Burning Spear. I had a most pleasant conversation with him. He knew the city of Paris very well, he is well traveled and urbane and of decidedly good humor. And I tasted theur coffee, it is how can I say it, very good. but the menu of food selection is quite limited. They have a wide assortment of other drinks.
The atmosphere is quite Boheme. It is probably the oldest Coffee House continuously running in this region of the usa. Do not expect a Starbucks experience, no this is a place for the poet, the writer, the musician, the man or woman who savers a certain atmosphere. The student. The independent and free thinking and free-minded. And it is open very late to the night. At least until the State of Ohio's 10:00 p.m. coronavirus confinement but they have said that under the normal circumstances it is open much later.
When I visit this strange city again I shall make sure certain to stop again at this wonderful cafe. Indeed it feels like a place from a film. In fact they told me that there was once a scene from a film shot here, with Michael Douglas, it is called Traffic. I was told that it was a very interesting film, I do not see much American Cinema but I think I will find this film and watch it.

Great coffee house! My friends and I enjoyed our time there. The Irish coffee was great and a good price. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Fairly priced, but that doesn't matter because the gentleman at the register will give you his own price. Also felt like i wasn't stoned enough to be there, sorry. If you're into the hipster looking dump coffee shops, this is the spot for you!
