Outer Bean Cafe

We have several family members that cannot eat gluten and/or dairy, so it can be difficult to find a decent place to eat. The Outer Bean was perfect. They are knowledgeable, we had a ton of choices, and everything tasted amazing! Definitely don't miss this gem if you are in Kitty Hawk!

Super-friendly staff at this woman-owned shop with good organic food and coffee, local art for sale on the walls. Simple but tasty menu -- which includes fresh, organic, and vegan fare --with an unexpected Turkish twist. Don't miss it.

Rare to find organic let alone vegan food around these parts. This place offers both (as well as good for vegetarians and carnivores) and I deeply appreciate the intention behind and execution of their delicious offerings. We come back every year, sometimes more than once in a week... food highlight of our vacation!

Stopped in to get smoothies and was created by a very friendly and knowledgable staff. They are well versed in what was vegan and would make anything vegan. Smoothies were fresh and had better ingredients than the other smoothie place. They were sold out, but did mention they sell vegan cookies. A must stop for anyone looking for a healthy meal or snack.

My iced latte was suuuper delicious. Unlike some of the impatient people in these reviews, I understand why they implemented the stand at the front of the restaurant to keep people from crowding into the place and did not mind waiting outside at all. Very professional and mindful of COVID procedures. The girl who served me was very nice as well

The latte was excellent and the staff was so nice and friendly!! I was unsure of what to expect from a bacon egg and cheese sandwich made with hard boiled eggs, but it was delicious! Definitely recommend!!

This was the crunchy little juice and coffee bar that my body and soul were craving after too many days of fried seafood. I had the Brie Salad for lunch - delicious and made with very fresh ingredients. Food prep was quite slow, but I wasn't in a hurry. Also, not a lot of seating, but they've made the most of the space they have.

Visited Outer Bean on two occasions during our vacation. Everything from the coffee, to the yogurt bowls, to the smoothies were awesome! Service and owner were wonderful as well. Great spot to check out if you're looking for a healthy, but delicious meal!

The ice cream was good, customer service was lacking. It looks like They either have a hybrid model to deal with Covid and keeping the business open, or they don’t know what they’re doing. Most of our order was taken in person and payed with credit card the other half we were asked to place online in a less than cordial fashion, we had about four adults six children, it looks like the staff felt overwhelmed with the business. With that being said if moderate volume is overwhelming then I would argue that whatever operating procedure you have in place is ineffective. It’s a small island , So part of the economic rents are that there aren’t many options, but given the choice I would not return.

What a gem! Excellent quality ingredients, pride themselves on healthy options. Can accommodate all diets, including vegan, gluten free, vegetarian. Coffee is the best on the outerbanks as well. We went here everyday for breakfast in our stay
