Coffee is okay, slightly above the quality of a Starbucks. Bottom tier among the coffee bars I've been to in Asheville.

Baked goods are pretty terrible, marginally better than what you'd find at a gas station, but they're made from mostly good ingredients so I added a star there. Muffins were undercooked and doughy, cookies oversweetened, I suppose to compensate for otherwise flour-y taste.

Staff is the one saving grace, you can tell they try to put care into their work. Honestly I think they're probably just overworked and underpaid, giving the results seen here.

Ambiance is nice, pretty chill and dark, chessboard in the back room for those who like to play. All around, if you just want to grab a cuppa and chill for a bit, this spot is fine. If you are even a little snobby about your coffee or pastries, you'll probably be disappointed.

Cool vibe, great coffee. The double mocha chunk cookie has dried cherries, which I didn't expect but really enjoyed. Definitely visit if you're in the area.

Excellent iced americanos! Very fast service, kind employees and a unique and comfortable atmosphere.

Coffee roast at BattleCat is sooooo good. They know how to pick their coffee beans and roast/brew it. Plus the cool, artsy vibe and seating areas, yes yes yes yes. The best. Legit coffee shop.

Oh and thanks for being opened during the virus!!

Great vibe, great coffee and great food out of the little room in the back. Breakfast Burritos are my mainstay when I'm Asheville. The only thing that bugs me is no recycling of all the paper cups that they hand out. So simple and cheap to do.

Get over yourselves. Snobby service if you don’t look like a cancel baby. Mediocre food. You can get a coffee anywhere but if you feel offended by the world this may be one of your safe places!

Seems like a nice place. However,I know nothing about coffee!Just wanted a de-cafe or hot chocolate but was told the machines were broken.I asked several questions and felt the person behind the counter was rude.Sorry for asking questions!

Delicious coffee and friendly employees. Love that they’re following social distancing measures carefully. My favorite part was the local art on the walls!

Coffee at Battlecat is really good, it's a chill atmosphere for anyone comfortable being in a hipster type kind of environment with a lot of younger folks around, and the food at Tiger Bay Cafe is awesome! I've heard people speak negatively about their experience with the staff, but everyone I've dealt with so far has been pretty cool.

This is my favorite cafe on the west side. They are simple in their presentation and complex in tastes. If you are looking to hang and contemplate some rad art, study in peace, play some chess with the local intellectuals, or just want to chill on the front porch and admire the beautiful landscaping, this place in king. Did I mention they also have an excellent bbq place called tiger bay in the back? Check it out, it's another hidden gem of ashevillain proportions.
