I stopped in here about 2 months ago, and had a 5 minute convo about coffee that lasted 25 minutes, lol! Doug is a trip, passionate about what he does, and my lesson included munching on some fresh-roasted beans to assess flavor. Amazing. As noted elsewhere, his roastings are daily, and they get darker as the week goes on. I'm just finishing the pound I bought, but it stayed very fresh in my cannister. Going back ASAP.
I love the coffee here. You know your going to get an amazing brew with these beans. Also the owner makes the experience because his enthusiasm and knowledge for coffee is just amazing!
Unique business. The owner serves you coffee on his terms. One size, no fancy drinks, or flavored syrups. Though he will reluctantly give you milk.
As a coffee lover, this is beautiful experience totally worth the visit and many returns. If you enjoy corporate coffee (such as D&D and Starbucks) or expect people who serve you to be subservient.... you won't like this place.
Wow, wow, wow!!! I'm from out of town and have driven by the warehouse a couple times but could not stop. Today I could and boy am I glad I did. It truly is the best coffee you will ever have. The owner obviously knows a lot about coffee and is very passionate about it. I received a complete coffee education. Drinking my "instant" coffee at home will never be the same....
I was happy to stumble upon this place as I was passing by because I was ready for a cup. A zero frills place that only sells cups of coffee and freshly roasted coffee beans. Don't expect fancy or even nice just a great cup of coffee from an extremely knowledgeable owner. I think it's $20 a pound for fresh roasted beans.
Hole in the wall coffee shop. The owner is quite the character. For $2.50 (cash only) you'll get a better cup of STRONG coffee than anywhere else, though it's whatever he's brewed that day. No americano, espressos or anything, straight up black coffee and cream and sugar if you'd like. Zero frills but best coffee you'll find in town. Sells beans for $20 a pound, which if you let him lecture you on the right way to brew a bean, is also the best beans you can buy.
If you like coffee you will love this place. They only have one type of coffee, and the roast gets darker as the weeks goes on. At $2.50 for an amazing cup of coffee, it's a great place to stop for a mid day buzz. They also sell freshly roasted beans.
The coffee can be good, but not consistently. I could overlook the appearance of the place and just enjoy the coffee, if the owner wasn't so rude. People might give him a hipster pass, but I like a little kindness with my coffee.
By far the best cup of coffee you will find in Syracuse, if not all of Central NY. Doug, the owner/operator is a walking encyclopedia and is happy to improve your understanding of all things coffee, just ask. Be sure to bring your manners though, as any disrespect will quickly help you find the exit.
What a curious place. Came in on a Friday to get the dark roast. The owner is engaged and excited to get you to try excellent coffee. Bought a pound of beans and an iced coffee and was very pleased with both.
