This space is amazing and a significant enhancer to the space it is in! From food & coffee to the space its extremely high quality. The staff is extremely friendly and already has their groove to handle a large crowd which is hard for a cafe. Its impressive and definitely my new favorite place in NOTA.

Really tasty coffee, breakfast items (though they also do have more than that!), and they have a great selection of baked goods from multiple local bakers!

Not only is their coffee and their service excellent, but so is their cafe food! These folks really do a great job.

Decent food, but sterile atmosphere and no night-time hours. Definitely not Starry Nites, which was formerly in that location. High prices as well, especially for run-of-the-mill coffee and food. Probably won't go back.

If you're coming here expecting the stary nights vibe, you will be disappointed. If you come with an open mind and an excitement for new adventures, you will be pleased. Drip coffee is good , did not try the food, by the pastries are great. The vibe is very eclectic and modern. I am excited to come back and explore more of the menu.

Just off the avocado toast alone 5 stars!!! love the vibe, love the food and in such a great neighborhood. I think I just found my new meeting spot!

Matilda Coffee House is absolutely stunning! As a former employee of Starry Nites Cafe years ago, I can say the new owners of this business put so much care and crafting into this beautiful new space, which was so desperately needed! The cafe itself is so clean and bright, but also very welcoming. The exposed brick and multiple colored walls are beautiful, as well as giant surrounding windows. I ordered an oatmeal raisin whoopie pie and an iced pumpkin spice oat milk latte. The latte was delicious and not too sweet like so many other pumpkin flavored beverages. The whoopie pie was absolutely to-die-for! I was happy to see some familiar faces behind the bar from other coffee shops in the area- very friendly and knowledgeable baristas & cooks.
I will be returning soon and encourage everyone to visit this cafe!

Disappointing, especially considering the former glory of Moon Beans and Starry Nites. The atmosphere is of a particularly sterile and soulless Apple Store (loud, white, bare, fluorescent), and the food options are safe and bland--nothing even close to the full menu and dazzling pastry case offered by Starry Nites. The layout is unsuited to the space and creates a bottleneck by the counter, where the only menu (?!) in the store is located. Bizarrely for an upscale cafe in 2021, there do not appear to be any non-dairy milks on offer. While Starry Nites' heimish, arty atmosphere fit right in to the neighborhood and offered a space where locals could hang out for hours, listen to music, and meet friends, Matilda feels transplanted from some particularly bougie corner of Park Avenue, and the clientele is similarly changed. In fairness, the coffee was good and strong.

Very nice place. Outside seating. Food and drinks were good. Staff was very nice. Went for weekly coffee date with my daughter.

Omg how amazing! Such amazing food and great upbeat atmosphere! You NEED to see this gem!

This doesn’t really look like a food place but the breakfast sandwich (spicy fried egg blt) was incredible. Good espresso, too.
