If you are within 50 miles of the rhinebeck area the golden russet is a true gem and a must for breakfast lunch snack and more. A lovely and competent young couple now own and run it. Everything is so fresh and delicious. A true local place that locals and visitors frequent.
We have eaten there several times when visiting our daughter’s store in rhinebeck.
Starrybirdkids.com. Which of course we think is the best child and mama store. Recent name change from sapling but same owner and more products.
You will truly experience a country setting and superb food and service. Please visit and help both these small locally owned businesses thrive. See photos.

I frequently deliver there and I have to admit they are greatly friendly people! Someday I can't wait to trouble them for a bacon
& egg sandwich! I bet you they taste fantastic because I'm the one that delivers the eggs! (I also pick up their eggs from the farm where they get them from!)

Great breakfast, and the owners are super nice! Go-to stop any time we're in the area! They have a little bit of everything in the grocery, beer, and wine department too...

Incredible food, awesome selection, and really nice people. If I could give it six stars, I would.

I had an opportunity to visit the Golden Russet for breakfast this morning with my wife and in-laws who live nearby. The couple who created the Golden Russet, Jenny and Craig, are owner/operators. The Cafe is recently opened hence the relatively small menu; still, there are enough options - freshly made egg sandwiches to freshly baked muffins and banana bread plus some other items - so that anyone visiting will find something good to eat.
The coffee is freshly brewed and really good quality; I noticed they use Fetco equipment which speaks well of their standard of excellence. Jenny was kind enough to brew a fresh pot of decaf for my wife who cannot tolerate too much caffeine. My wife ate one of the egg sandwiches, I had a muffin as did my father in law; all of which was served fresh with a smile and eyes that made contact. I appreciate when people are present and not onto the next thing.
The space is light and frsh and aiey with saveral table to accomodate 4 or 5 people; there is also a large community table. The atmosphere is also that.
I am a cyclist although not local to this area although I ride up from NJ from time to time; if I were local this is the place I would choose for my coffee stop. There is the community table inside for the cold ride days and outdoor seating for the normal weather days.
I expect that over time the Golden Russet will expand their offerings and hours but no matter; if you are within 10km of here please do yourself a favor and stop in.
They also have a small grocery section and sell all the daily newspapers.

Perfect country store. Clearly so well thought out and cared for. Breakfast sandwich was classicly perfect, but the grilled banana bread finished with sea salt was the star. Outstanding!

What else could you want from a cafe? Incredible breakfast sandwiches, great coffee, warm atmosphere, friendly owners, and banana bread that you will daydream about long after it's gone. Every town would be lucky to have a Golden Russet.

Jenny and Craig have created a great shop for sandwiches and supplies. Cider highly recommended too!

Craig and Jenny have made a special place in the Golden Russet. The food is wonderful and the community is even better. Not to be missed for locals and tourists alike.
