Had a very disappointing and unpleasant experience. We were seated outside but it was extremely hot and wasps buzzing around. When we asked to move inside the waiter and waitress were very rude. Would not accommodate. Additionally one of the meals was forgotten about and then tried to charge us for it.
UPDATE:
I see the owner has responded below and I just have to clarify a few things. The salad did not come out 5 minutes later because we would not have complained if that was the case. Everyone had finished their meals and plates had been taken away, and the salad had still not come.
Additionally, there was an empty table that could have accommodated us as well as empty bar seats and we expressed that we were willing to split up our party since we were 9 people.
I never write restaurant reviews but this had been such an upsetting experience with the way the staff treated my family that we felt necessary to write this review.

Great selection, the customer service was fantastic.

My family and friends live it here. We can’t wait for the restaurant to reopen and eat your fabulous mushroom risotto and try tea in your tasting room. It’s always a go to on the list for all our house guests. Thank you for such wonderful service and hospitality.

Not only did my delivery of teas come sooner than expected I was also given several small samples of other teas to try. Very thankful to have found this gem of a tea shop and hope to visit very soon. Will most definitely be ordering more tea soon.

I visited expecting to sample a number of teas but was disappointed that you can only sample one tea of your choosing. You are free to sample several teas, selected by the staff, already brewing on the counter, but only one “off the wall”. Given the dozens they offer I would have paid for tasting if I could have tried more so as to discover what I like. This one tea limit defeats the purpose of a tasting bar.

Great place for all the tea connoisseurs and for the ocassional tea drinker. Welcoming atmosphere and knowledgeable staff to help you with your tea selections. There's a very small restaurant in the back that's worth the wait so go for lunch but get there early!

A wonderful destination for an excursion. Always s few teas to taste, the people who work there are passionate and gracious in explaining the many varieties of teas. The gift shop is amazing and there’s a restaraunt as well!

I have been ordering and buying from Harney & Sons for five years. The tea is undoubtedly very good. My one star review is for customer service. The last time I ordered tea, the shipment (to my daughter) did not go out because of an “unverified address”. However, I needed to make Harney & Sons aware that my shipment did not go out. After three phone calls to an unpleasant customer service person, we finally got the tea (without changing the address). This time the shipment to our proven home address has stalled for 10 days, the money has been taken out from our account, the webpage lists our order as fulfilled, and there is zero response after checking in with email or phone (voice mail only) to solve the issue.
Update: Harney & Sons have rapidly and generously reacted to this review - we received the tea today, which suggests that my problems were recent outliers. Given that my past ordering experiences were flawless, I raised my review to 4 stars. I am sorry that I posted this review at the wrong place. We have been to Millerton several times and found the shopping experience at Harney & Sons plus a meal at the close Oakhurst Diner always a treat.

Very disappointing and kind of creepy. Not quite a down-home country place but not sophisticated either. Not sure how or if to say this, but the unwashed odor/stink emanating across the counter from the young guy who rang up my tea and other purchase left me nauseous. Surely any manager would have noticed this. (I haven't been able to drink any of the teas I bought; is this really their standard of hygiene? There was nothing fun or memorable about his place. And now, I don't even want the tea I stupidly bought.

We went on Columbus Day, and while they were staffed for the extra business, some (although not all) of the staff was quite snooty in response to the inexperienced "tea taster". The employee that helped us was very nice, however. Hopefully he'll rub off on his coworkers. It got very crowded at the tea bar and in the store, so we had to leave and come back once it quieted down. The quality of the teas, however, were amazing.
