Service was fine, despite other reviews. Friendly enough especially once we chatted with the waitress. Food was good. I had tamales, Christmas, and would stick to just green chili next time. We ate so much we opted out of cobbler...wish we hadn't because it sounded yummy. The place was hoppin'.

First impression is that it is a bit of a drive. It is showing some wear and tear but please don't let that stop you from coming in and enjoying the outstanding hospitality and comfort food.
With your beverage order, you are given chips and salsa. The salsa is some of the best I have tasted. It has a good luck of heat without melting your face off.
For dinner, I had Chicken Fried Chicken Breast with cream gravy. The chicken was tender and juicy with a crispy coating. This is served with a cream gravy on top which was excellent with a touch of salt added.
With the dinner, you get soup or salad. I, thankfully, opted for the Chicken Rice soup. Complete with celery, carrots, and peppers that melt in your mouth, this was also some of the best I have ever tasted. There is a bit of heat that is unexpected but just right. I would love to have this in our cold Michigan winters back home.
The service was also outstanding. Everyone there made us feel welcome as if we were regulars and not just travellers passing through.

We decided to try this place out after seeing reviews on Google and Yelp. We where on or third stop traveling from Atlanta to Phoenix’s and tired of Fast food. The waitress was sweet and attentive, food was delicious and priced just right. Don’t judge a book by its cover. This place is wonderful. Highly recommended.

I had such an amazing time at Railway Cafe in Gallup with my family. We had amazing food. The service was prompt and our server was really attentive. We will be back to visit soon! I wish I had taken a photo of my enchilada plate. I highly suggest this restaurant to anyone in the Gallup area.

We stopped at Route 66 Railway Cafe, which we learned is family-owned and operated, in Gallup on our way to Santa Fe. The food was delicious , the portions were large (way more than we could eat), and the prices were extremely reasonable! We figured out that it is a local favorite while we sat and ate. Karen and her daughter were super kind and funny too. Highly recommend you stop in if you are driving on Route 66 for some fabulous food at an affordable price!

Service is great, food is very good. The only thing is the pancakes weren't cooked all the way.

We stopped here about 2 weeks ago, headed home. Place was awesome and service was great. Food was very good as well. Will definitely come here again if we're in the area.

Sopapillas were very fresh and very good. My daughter who doesn't usually eat them, loved them.

I really wanted to like this place because I am nostalgic sadly I couldn't. I don't even know where to start. My husband ordered a Mexican combination. The enchilada was so hard he couldn't chew through it. Tacos were small and I he wouldn't recommend them. Asked for no rice and I got rice. My friend ordered grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough bread with tater tots. No complaints. Let's get to mine. Fried chicken. Halfway through the chicken breast it was frozen. Mashed potatoes were already cold. She took my whole plate away. She came back and had literally put the 3 pieces back into the deep fryer. Half eaten chicken breast put back into the deep fryer. Yuk. The thigh was cold inside but the outside was too overdone. Another reviewer said the oil tasted old. I agree. I can't even recommend it at all. Nothing off of the bill. Forgot to refill drinks. Totally bad experience. I have two stars because the waitress was nice.

The food was very good. We ordered something to go. The engineer burger was very good. My husband had the chicken fried steak. He enjoyed it. Prices realistic.
