The Special Restaurant

The Special Restaurant is a fairly new business, having opened in 2015. However in that short time, they have already been voted Best of Bellevue, Best of Sarpy County, and even Best of Omaha multiple times! That's a pretty big accomplishment for a true "Ma & Pa" style restaurant. The first time I ate there it was so good, I ate there again the next day. On that second day I ordered something different and it was so good, I ate there the next day. :)

My favorite menu items are the Chicken Fried Steak, The Bacon & Egg Cheeseburger, and the Prime Rib (served only on Fridays, I believe). I also recently discovered the Fried Chicken Dinner on their menu, so I've ordered that the past few times.

The other thing to add is that Laura is also a top-notch baker in her own right. The Special is actually one of the only places I ever order dessert from. But they sometimes sell out of things so quickly that I order them "to go" right when we sit down.

The food, service and atmosphere was awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Extra large tasty breakfast entrees. Very fresh veggies in the potato skillets. Bring your appetite. You won't leave hungry for sure! Sausage gravy is full of large chunks of meat and nicely spiced. However, It was lukewarm. But the server rectified it quickly. Place was hopping on Saturday morning so there was a wait. The food was worth hanging around for. Our server was great. She was having to juggle lots of tables of hungry folks. Nice ambiance.

Great home style food and huge servings you won't leave hungry.

I had a much better experience than I anticipated. When you first walk in the bar and the lighting throw you off a little. The food was delicious, and the portions were huge! My coworkers and I had an amazing time from the moment we walked through the doors. I recommend anyone visiting Omaha, or even if you live in the area to visit The Special. It's Adam absolutely wonderful restuarant.

I called and got hung up on. It takes forever for someone to pick the phone up. This is my second time trying to get food for carry out. I now see how they value there customers and conduct business...

Good food, polite and fast service, decently priced for the quality and quantity you get.

We had a very sweet and personable waitress and when I asked for hashbrowns, not hash whites, she listened and brought me a beautiful order of hashbrowns with beautiful crispy brown outsides...yum! Everyone in my 5 person party enjoyed their meals and the good service. Thanks!
