Recently found out Troost was the hub for great coffee shops in Kansas City. My first visit and the energy was amazing. I love asking for suggestions and the Barista made me a delicious mocha with almond milk served with a FRESH warm muffin that wasn’t too sweet. Very clean environment and the happiest most helpful staff. Can’t wait to come back on my next visit home!

Check out this special spot with many organic options and incredible energy of like minded people. This place is more than a cafe, just ask. Delicious organic Matcha Latte and local sourdough bread. Highly recommended!

My partner and I drove to KC this weekend from Lawrence and loved every minute! Some of the best food I’ve ever had, excellent coffee and a great atmosphere! All of the employees were very kind and I will definitely be back!

I absolutely LOVE Equal Minded! I was able to try their new breakfast menu. The Keep It Simple sand-which was perfect, they even got the fresh pico on point! Definitely will be back ❤️

It’s a bold statement to say one has “the best chai latte in Kansas City.“ However, I think equal minded café is clearly a leading contender for this honor. Round that out with the best turkey and havarti sandwich I’ve ever had, staples like PB&Js -critical for any adult not wishing to adult today- and decor meant to challenge and inspire. I enjoy this neighborhood eatery!

Equal Minded Café is worth your time, your attention, and your money. If not for the owner's whimsical banter and the inviting, industrial ambiance, then certainly for the food which happens to be- might I add- some of the best café fare I've had in a long while.

I would liken the food to something you could typically only find 10 or so blocks west of its location; however, the owner has landed right at the intersection of both happy AND healthy in a neighborhood where such is needed the most.

Stepping into the café, you're immediately taken aback by its breadth-- expansive piping is exposed in the tall ceilings and it is truly surprising just how airy it all feels. All of that space isn't gone to waste, rather, it is filled with an organically homie, friendly energy.

I'm instantly greeted by the owner who is generous, warm, and begins making recommendations before I even have to ask for them. The selections are quaint and concise ranging from paninis to smoothies and teas. I found myself ordering the San Francisco Melt & an iced lavender coffee (a combination I customized from their decent selection of syrups).

The sandwich consisted of roast beef, cheddar, & swiss on sourdough with a house made garlic aioli. I was greeted by the familiar grill lines on the bread that I've seen on many a franchised sandwich but boy oh boy... This was no Panera ripoff. This was a sandwich only a family member could make-- melty, cheesy, crisp around the edges, the beef was juicy and tender; however, the real star of the show was the house made aioli. You won't find another sandwich like it AS GOOD as this one. You just won't.

The coffee was the perfect accompaniment. Perfect balance of ice, cream, coffee, & lavender. I love that this space doubles as event space for the local community at an affordable rate. There are westward views of Troost which offers plenty of sunlight and metropolitan verve.

This place will be receiving much more of my business and it SHOULD be receiving yours in the VERY near future.

This is a hidden Jewel in midtown Kansas City Missouri. This is more than just a black owned/family owned establishment. A a beacon of light and life in a part of a city that was once heavily riddled with crime. Hoping that with this establishment that will change. The conversation is excellent the food is excellent as well. I had a very tasty croissant sandwich with egg and turkey with a side of loose leaf spinach and pico de gallo. And with a refreshing cup of hazelnut latte. You can rent out the backspace for events it is also a great place for local students to meet up to relax and study. There are books and table games and it has free internet service too. I strongly, strongly recommend that you visit this place!

Such a cute cafe! Very large and spacious and great atmosphere!! Staff is super friendly and the drinks are the best I’ve had from a cafe in Kansas City! My favorite was the ice cream frappe, will be stopping here every time I’m in the area!!

I would give this place way more than 5 stars if I could. I ordered an iced matcha and the San Fran sandwich, both of which were easily the best I’ve ever had. Make sure you take the recommendations of the lady at the counter!! She recommended I get lavender and honey in my matcha, and it was absolutely delicious. If I lived in KC, I could eat here every day.
