Great little place for breakfast. Our server Ashley was very nice and attentive to our needs. We had a big group and she was great. Prices were reasonable and the food very good.

I must place to eat if you are in lake City. The food was delicious and the atmosphere with the employees was awesome. I would recommend anybody looking for a place to eat to try this :-)

We’ve ridden past the Chickadee Cottage dozens of times en route to other destinations. Today, curiosity and good reviews piqued our interest and we made it our lunch destination. We should have, once again, ridden past.
We walked in and the ambiance is confusing – it wasn’t altogether clear this was a restaurant but is it a souvenir shop? A retro room in a museum? Despite many available tables in more scenic places we were seated in a dark corner uncomfortably close to another couple. The woman who seated us said the other tables were for bigger groups.
We all started with soup which turned out to be the highlight of our meal. The beer cheese and tomato bisque were pretty good but unlikely to have been homemade.
I had the signature muffin meatloaf and was disappointed. It’s small. Meatloaf mix pressed into the bottom third of a standard muffin tin then covered with a dollop of cheesy hash browns and brown gravy. It was sided with a few leafs of lettuce, one grape tomato, and 2 baby carrots which comprised the side salad. The highlight on the plate was a house-made biscuit.
The signature OctoberFest schnitzel was right off the Sysco truck and utterly indecipherable as schnitzel as we’ve come to know it at the Winzer Stube in Hudson, WI. The highlight on that plate was a salty pretzel bread stick.
A cheese burger and fries were just OK but the bun was exceptional.
Our server, Lauren, did a great job! She answered our questions, anticipated our needs, and took good care of us.

Just love it here. A trip back in time with delicious food, a great staff and delicious food. Oh, I guess I already said that. It's on short hours now and closes for the winter. Get your Chicakdee feathers in the spring and fly down to Lake City!

The new owners are so kind and lovely. They are trying new things but there's the same great food. The all you can eat breakfast is delicious and the afternoon tea is a great expirence with fantastic foods.

Cozy and quaint cottage. Lots of menu items for all dietary needs and preferences. My husband had the morning meatloaf breakfast and I enjoyed the scrambled eggs. Everything is homemade and delicious!

This is a great place to get breakfast. The staff is friendly and attentive and the breakfast is yummy. Their special scramble, which has cream cheese mixed into the scrambled eggs, is delicious.

Awesome food and service. We had the Sunday brunch which was perfect. Next time we are in the area we will definitely stop back.
