Ursa Major Bistro & Coffee Shop

Cute local place with a seriously long wait. Like LONG. We waited 1 hour 10 minutes after ordering & paying. Then we asked for a refund and left. We are on a road trip and didn’t have that much time to spare, we ended up eating snacks in the car and ravenously wolfed down Wendy’s a few towns later… by the way Wendy’s only took 6 minutes to prepare my custom burger, and that was with the cashier training someone!

Placed order and was told half hour until food would be ready. No problem, plenty of small shops around to check out. Came back 30 minutes later and told less than 10 minutes, no big deal. 30 minutes later (one hour total since order placed) and food is ready, get food and go. Get back to hotel and one of our meals was not in the bag, called Ursa to let them know. Woman on phone very rude, insists she put in in our order and that something must have happened to it. Really surprised by this response but explain we really do not have an order of French toast in our bag. Woman on phone asks for name of order, realizes she was thinking about a different order for the French toast she saw. Responds with, so do you want me to credit it or do you want us to put it back in and you can pick it up? Credit please, we will find somewhere else for breakfast next time.

***After response from owner, I'd like to state that on the phone call they offered to only refund the one, this was news to me. At the time of this posting, 8 hours after the owners response my account shows a $16.25 return on my $72.19 bill which included a 25% tip that I paid prior to receiving my food.

Not upset about the refund. I'm upset about being called a liar about the whole thing.

How can a coffee shop have such terrible coffee? I had to dump it.
They are short staffed so it's mostly self serve but they still expect a tip at the register when you prepay for your food. Why would you tip for self service of food you haven't even seen yet?
The food was ok. Not great, but ok.
The outside seating was wonderful as long as you could score a real chair instead of the loungers that left you far from the table and your food.
I don't think this was an experience I'll be repeating. There HAS to be a better experience than this.

I was only able to try this cafe once, and didn't get food. The coffee I tried was wonderful and my wife loved her cold brew on ice. The food choices looked unique and amazing as well as the ice cream options. I will try and grab lunch here next time I am up that way!

I love stopping into Ursa Major every time we are up north. I always try something new because there are so many choices that look amazing. Their Cabin Fever Omelet was so yummy. I also just tried their Chicken Avocado Wrap and was so in love with its taste, the lime cilantro dressing was so good. I also love the atmosphere and how clean the restaurant is!

This cafe has quite a lot of coffee and food options. I had a decent burger but the stand out offering is the Moomer's ice cream. I had the brownie batter flavor. While the brownie bits and caramel were tasty it's the creamy, smooth texture that gets you. Try it!!! Also, their logo is adorable. Bear in a spoon. ^-^

This place was fantastic!! There food was amazing and there there coffee even better! I got the iced sleeping bear latte and it was the best coffee I’ve ever had! I am already hoping I can get someone to make me a coffee like that back home!! Definitely recommend!!

Good coffee and friendly service. Like all industries these days, they suffer from understaffing, which makes for longer wait times, so I have not yet eaten there, but I love the Sleeping Bear Latte! Highly recommend it.

Great coffee and atmosphere. I got a mocha frappe and my husband got an iced sleeping bear latte and we had them finished before we even left, they were so good!!

Really good coffee. There is a sign that says "at least a 30 minute wait on food" which makes no sense seeing that they weren't understaffed and there was open tables. The food visually looked good but overall nothing was amazing. I had the bacon egg and cheese bagel it was very alright. My buddy got pancakes and they weren't anything special either. Its just not worth waiting 30 minutes for the quality and taste in the food.
