We stop at Birches every time we’re in town! The coffee is amazing and great food, too (scones, sandwiches, toasts, etc.) They also have lots of unique Maine-themed art, books, and crafts for sale throughout the store and a great backyard seating area. I wish there was a coffee shop just like this closer to me!

While out exploring Maine, we came along this amazing gem of a coffeehouse, local family owned and operated. We were greeted with warm & welcoming smiles. I had a macchiato and my bf had a bourbon barrel aged cold brew. Both drinks had great depth in flavors, aromatic, and smooth with every sip. We both ordered a sausage egg on everything bagel. It was fresh, warm and delicious.
We were able to enjoy our morning coffee & breakfast in the back patio surrounded by beautiful gardens. And before we left, we had the opportunity to chat with the owners, who were hard working, knowledgeable, and kind people. All that said, whenever we’re back in Maine, this is our spot to go for coffee & conversations! Thank you to the owners & barista for a good experience!

So great! We were just looking for a lunch-stop for the family at the beginning of a long trip. Drinks and sandwiches were great - but even more than that, we were so touched by the way this couple was building a great little gathering place. The cafe-shop was full of local products, which the owner had personally selected and was ready to share with you about the products & their makers & what made them great - so refreshing! In the back, patio seating was thoughtfully appointed, tucked into a forested lot, with plans to expand into a fire pit and even nature trails! So great to see a small business, supporting locals, and creating a beautiful, natural place for people to connect!

A coffee shop with some extras (candies etc)
Several tables on the backyard.
It’s on south-east side of Hwy 1.
Making a left turn back to the hwy can be hard if there traffic.
The toilet is in a wooden outhouse on the backyard.

We went here for coffees. Came out with a pesto egg sandwich with pesto tomato mozzarella and everything bagel and a matcha latte. Both were fabulous! We ate and drank on the back patio and the flowers and tables were delightful. Recommend Birches!

This shop has a great selection of food and drink, as well as lots of great gifts. My complaint is with the service. I've stopped in several times and every time staff has ignored me entirely or been very short with me, acting like they want me out asap. I keep trying every once in awhile because they really do have a great selection of unique things and I love supporting local businesses. But after being treated rudely for the fifth time, I'll go elsewhere.

A very sweet place to grab a coffee and muffin right off of Route 1. There’s a peaceful seating area behind in the forest for a contemplative snack. They also sell a small selection of local foods and crafts, including a few things for kids.

Great shop with yummy treats and various coffee drinks. Nice outdoor seating in back

Pinnacle espresso beverages. My scone was tender and delicious. The low windows with dark green trim and forest view are lovely. The outdoor area is very special.

Super friendly people at this spot. Food was excellent. Most importantly, the cold brew iced coffee was on point! Clean place with bathroom out back. Good for a daily coffee stop, great for travelers needing to stop for a pit stop!
