New Orleans atmosphere at it's best. Small, neighborhood coffee shop, a variety of food, and a variety of people makes for a wonderful experience. The almond Danish and ice coffee were very good. If you want true New Orleans flavor, this is the place for coffee.

I had a latte at Flora and the espresso had a scorched taste, which was disappointing given the number of patrons outside. I wanted to like Flora so much because it seems like a brilliant place to work or relax with a book, but unfortunately I probably won’t be returning.

Come one, come all, come get your coffee, your snacks and breakfast! Just don't all come at the same time. Play the piano if you can, but leave your accordions at home. Flora is your standard accordion-free gallery, full of humans and coffee all designed to shun the accordion. Accordions, if you have one, are right out. If you enjoy accordions, either their "music" or their existence, please go to Ohio. It's somewhere north of Tennessee and somewhere beneath human dignity... perfect for accordions.

Accordions not welcome. Unless they need smashing. Smoking tobacco and smashing accordions out back encouraged.

Cafe Flora is so much more than a coffee shop -- it's a gathering place for the neighborhood where bonds are formed and relationships kindled. Ali, the owner, is always around, talking to everyone, getting to know you, hosting bat-gammon tournaments. The coffee is cheap and good. The space is filled with crafts from local artists and an old upright piano where you'll occasionally here someone trilling out a tune. This isn't your spic-and-span, modern coffee shop where you breeze in and out and instagram about it, this is a true, authentic, New Orleans coffee house where you while away the humid hours talking to anyone who is around you, telling stories, soaking in life. I am grateful for this coffee shop!
