The food is amazing, the atmosphere not so much. Easily one of my top 5 restaurants in Lawrence, I still find myself going less and less because the space it isn't enjoyable and can be uncomfortable. For a while I resorted to ordering out, but have also stopped because everything is unnecessarily styrofoam or plastic wrapped. Aladdin Cafe: I would love a sustainable carry out option or a more enjoyable space.

The food here is always so delicious. The waitresses are polite and as prompt as can be, even if they are experiencing a rush. The owners, (I think he's an owner) generally always comes out to ask how the food is. Great food, nice people.

Great food! The Falaffel is heavenly. Had to get the lentil soup warmed up then it was great! The chicken was tender and flavorful and the veggies were still crisp enough to really enjoy.

We ate here this evening on Christmas Eve and couldn't have asked for better service or food! This place is quite possibly the best Mediterranean food we've had ANYWHERE! A MUST TRY!!

Had the lunch buffet on Saturday. The food was okay at best-Chicken and falafel were good enough and the lentil soup was decent but everything else wasn't up to mark.
They charged me full price for my 7 year old!!! How much could he eat to justify $12!!!

Really, really delicious soups and desserts. I've not been here often, but the couple of times that I've stopped by they've provided great service, very patient with indecisive eaters like myself, haha. The owners do also seem very nice, very warm people. If you're looking for a quieter, maybe cozier place to eat,, I'd recommend Aladdin Cafe. Additionally, their tiramisu is to die for, the best in Lawrence.

Aladdin's Cafe is what began my love affair with Mediterranean food. The food will merry different flavors so well--creamy, salty, tangy, just to name a few. When you first walk into this cafe, it is a little weird as there is no hostess stand and you often will very awkwardly stand there until a server sees you. While on the topic of waitstaff, you will not be blown away by the waitstaff, they are friendly, however it is only sub-par and will not show as much interest in your table and only check in on you a couple of times. Once you are seated, you cannot help but look at the interesting decor. While dated, the various hookahs and interesting color choices do not necessarily detract from the experience. The menu has a wide variety of options to choose from with delicious appetizers, most of which include their savory pita bread. As for my entree, I always order the falafel and hummus sandwich topped with fresh vegetables and a choice of salad or soup. The salad is alright, but is not one I would order if it was not included as it is too tangy for me, however the jasmine rice and sandwich are a delicious combination with their creamy and salty flavors. All of this for a very affordable price, and you may just find yourself with a new-found addiction to Mediterranean food!

With all the excitement going on outside with KU making the big four it was a relaxing area to eat. The service was great but the food better! I drove almost two hours to eat here. I was not dissapointed. I had the pastry, the soup and the kabob platter.

Came here somewhat randomly when visiting Lawrence. Interior looks nice and the menu had a lot of exciting options
Food: 4/5 - Good, but not great. Everything tasted so salty. Rice and soup tasted just a little stale. Grilled vegetables were superb. Chicken was pretty chewy but tasted fine.
Service: 4/5 - No complaints here. Waitress was very prompt with taking order and visiting my table regularly. Had to wait a bit with the check but she was apologetic.
Facilities 1/5 - Dear God, the bathrooms! Probably in the top three grossest restrooms I've been in, and I've been in some terrible places (The old Creepy Crawl in STL being one of the other top contenders). I would have had a hard time eating my food if I had used the restroom before I finished my meal. It's a combination of disrepair, irregular maintenance, and grime. As for the main part of the restaurant, it was in much better condition, although the booth I was sitting in had a broken seat.
I'd have a hard time justifying another visit.
