Amazing coffee place—I prefer tea and always get tea. Very popular when I visit but never without a place to sit. Only downside—NO WIFI! Good place to sit and chat, not a good time place if you need to get online computer work done.

Cortado is hands down the best cafe in IC. All of their staff is knowledgeable about their products and are more than happy to answer questions or help you make a decision. It is obvious the owner cares a lot about their shop by the amount of house made ingredients on the menu which are invariably excellent. Cold brew, hummus and pita, and chai latte (they steam milk for iced drinks to create that awesome micro-foam!!!!) are my personal faves on the menu but the chocolate chip cookies are to die for.
The atmosphere is one full of community and warmth, excellent for a quick bite to eat and good conversation or a cozy latte overlooking the pentacrest.

I made my pickup order through Grubhub. I waited 15 minutes, and when the owner arrived to open the shop, he blamed Grubhub, saying that he has repeatedly told them to arrange pickup during shop hours. The owner could not tell me how long it would take to make the order. He told me to contact Grubhub regarding a refund. I had wanted to support one of my favorite local businesses. But I had missed my bus, hadn't had breakfast, was late for work. I felt grumpy, the owner seemed grumpy -- it was just an all around unfortunate experience. I would not order through Grubhub again. I also feel disappointed in the way Cortado handled the situation and would hesitate to order directly.

Not sure why you would bother opening a coffee shop without wifi right across from a big ten school campus.
I love coffee, but you can't penalize students for wanting good coffee.
The employees also kept hitting on girls.

Quality coffee and tasty food. Atmosphere might not be what everyone wants but I like it. I'm glad there's a real coffee shop in town other than Java Houses overrun with college students.

The Indonesian pour over is the best cup of coffee in Iowa City. The baked goods are great, frequently hot out of the oven, and the staff is really friendly. And they play great music!

Good hummus & great customer service! Had a slight mix up with an order from CHOMP. Called the restaurant and someone from the restaurant specifically came and delivered the correct order within 10 minutes.

Let me start by saying the breakfast wrap is actually pretty good. Also the cappuccino wasn't bad. It wasn't magnificently inspiring, but it wasn't displeasing. Those two reasons kept me from giving it only one star.
Now let me get to the reason why I felt so compelled to review Cortado in the first place: IT DOESN'T HAVE WIFI. I rarely, if not never, come to a coffee shop for the food, atmosphere, and furniture. I go because I want a quick jolt of liquid energy and a cathartically cacophonous place to work.
It seems as though Cortado is appealing to a niche that perhaps doesn't include me. It was decently full of people when I was here, so by all means, keep doing you, but it's a "no" from me.

I ordered hot chocolate and a ham and swiss sandwich. The hot chocolate is not very choclatey. It is mostly warm milk. The sandwich saved them because it was delicious, melty and warm on a flakey croissant. However everything on the menu is over priced. Not good especially since it is on the pentacrest.

Order lamb wrap and the iowana sandwich. They had no lamb so got chicken instead. They wouldn't adjust price since we ordered online. The sandwich was good though. The iowana was a joke for $9. One slice of prosciutto and bad bread.
