Cortado Mediterranean Cafe

This is one of the best cafes in town. I love their cappuccino, it tasteful with a perfect ration of espresso to milk (got double shot). The foam is not hanging on top like at many other places. They also have a nice lunch/breakfast menu and make their own pita bread. I have tried their Falafel burger, chicken sandwich, etc and I liked it.

I just suggest that the owner smiles a bit😀

I had the Israeli breakfast. Good portion size and of course the cortado coffee. Tasted amazing

Perfect place to pick up coffee or tea before class. Lovely sunshine warms up whole inside. Very taste and authentic coffee!

Great coffee - came here once - got a cappuccino.
Only thing is that they don't have wifi - which I guess creates a nice ambiance free of college students, and people on their phones.. but yeah.

Maybe provide books, board games for people to entertain themselves with then?

Also - while service was friendly enough - they didn't seem very passionate when I visited (5pm on a weekday).

Updated review: still great coffee (probably my favorite in downtown Iowa city), I am removing stars because there is no wifi. When cortado employees tell me to just use the wifi from next door, what's the point of not having it?

Great coffee and espresso drinks. I tried the cortado (I had to, it's in their name), and it was delicious.

My favorite place in downtown Iowa City for espresso! The pita and hummus are made fresh daily and are just perfect 👌 I don't eat meat, but my wife has had the lamb shawarma pita wrap and says it's incredible, and there's a tofu wrap that looks amazing. I am so thankful this place exists!

I ordered the Turkey sandwich! However, it looked like my sandwich had received significantly smaller amounts of sauce and other toppings compared to the pictures posted on their instagram; this made the sandwich so dry. I really wish there were more sauce because it was delicious and would have made it so much better! Also, even though i ordered a double shot latte, the drink was not strong at all and the coffee seemed kind of weak compared to other lattes.

Aside from having the best quality coffee drinks in town, Cortado is a great place to go as a vegan. The hummus/pita/falafel staples are all vegan, as well as the breads and many sauces/dressings— so requesting vegan is super easy. They always have almond, soy, and oat milk for coffee options as well!

This place is great. The coffee is really good and the people who work there are really nice. I don't know how much they make, but they deserve a raise.

Worth the drive off 80! Met expectations for my picky tastes. Corrado sets the bar high ever even after spending years in the Middle East. His hummus and lamb completely pass expectations. Thank you!
