One of my favorite breakfast places. Coffee and the environment is cool. There's lots of things to do in the area. Food is amazing. Pictured is the build your own bowl (sausage, bacon, potato, cheese, green peppers.) Coffee pictured is The Bohemian.

I'm going to preface this with the fact that I travel a lot for work. When I travel, I like to explore the locally-owned, small business options because they are usually the ones that make their craft with love. I didn't feel that when I visited Brewhemia last week. Maybe it's what we ordered or who was working in the kitchen on the morning of January 24th, but, none of the food or coffee was really anything to write home about. Both the avocado toast (which became more costly after I paid to add more toppings) and the breakfast bowl were so bland that my Dad and I had a difficult time choking them both down. And, we were so hungry! I'm talking so-plain that not even hot sauce can jazz it up. The food lacked seasoning but it's not food that can be saved by adding salt and pepper after it's cooked. The lattés were also quite unremarkable. We boxed up the food to eat later, hoping that some of the flavors will meld together and enhance one another but they didn't so we tossed them. I hate wasting food. I'm so disappointed because the restaurant is so beautifully put-together and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. I'll come back before my contract in Cedar Rapids is up and look forward to seeing what's different 🤞🏼

Nice coffee shop with a unique atmosphere and clean. Nice coffee, sandwiches and Customer service was top. Tried for the first time and will most certainly return!

Coffee was delicious! I always worry about small coffee shops having overly bitter drinks and they weren’t bitter at all. Had the white mocha and the bohemian and they were the perfect. Will definitely stop again when back in town!

2017 Review: When you are looking for local character and good quality - along with meeting a variety of other needs - Brewhemia checks all the boxes. It's a great place to meet business associates or friends, as it has diverse seating options. They offer a menu with a wide array of gourmet coffee, food, and other drink choices. I am regularly there for breakfast and enjoy their egg croissant sandwich or biscuits and gravy. For lunch, I have had their curry chicken sandwich. It isn't a strange sight to see someone sitting for hours here reading a book or doing work on their laptops. It is located in one of the richest cultural areas in downtown Cedar Rapids.

2021 Update: Much of the above is still true except maybe there have been some menu changes since then and that I get the bacon burrito for breakfast there now.

I love the burrito - its a great value, filling and flavorful. Comes with a homemade salsa and cream cheese in an environmentally friendly box when you're getting it to go.

Brewhemia is the hottest breakfast and coffee game in town now, so a good "life hack" is using the order online feature before you go.

The southwestern egg on croissant was delicious! Americano coffee was great. Efficient service. First time, hope to come back!

Our son moved here in June and this is hands-down our FAVE place to come and eat! Wonderful vibe, decor, excellent food and beverages. The pumpkin pancakes were AMAZING!!! Avocado toast was perfect. You will not be disappointed if you go out of your way to come here.

Very good coffee shop in downtown Cedar Rapids. The atmosphere is great. They have a variety of coffees and breakfast options. They also have non dairy milk options if your lactose intolerant.
However pastries was OK.

Update:
Found some kind of paper or whatever it is in my cherry pastry. :/ Still giving the 4 stars but I hope they would work on their pastries and hygiene. ✌🏼

Brewhemia is my favorite place to eat in Cedar Rapids. After I discovered it the 2nd morning of my trip, I had it the next 3 mornings.

The Aesops bowl is outstanding, and I finally got a great cup of cappuccino.

I highly recommend!
