Latea Bubble Tea Lounge - Housemade Family Recipe Boba

Some of the best bubble tea I've ever had. I ordered the house bubble tea "less sweet" and was impressed. Prices may be a little more than what most would pay for a beverage, but it's definitely worth it for a specialty drink like this.

My husband and I were from Taiwan and have drank a lot of bubble tea. This place was really closed to the bubble tea we drank in Taiwan; the bubble were very chewey and nice and the cream in the bubble tea was about right. I wish the tea in the bubble tea can be a little heavier to fit the Taiwanese taste, but overall it was great!

We've tried a couple of the teas so far and they're all pretty good (the only one we haven't liked is the rose milk tea, it tasted like old flower water or perfume) but the best by far is the mango green tea. I love the rewards system, and the teas are easily customizable to taste (I like very sweet tea so I can order extra sweet but if you like unsweet tea or something in between there are a lot of options. We go to latea almost every day now. I'm hooked.

Love this place! I come here for bubble tea all the time and they never disappoint! Only thing I recommend is for newbies to start at 50% sweetness! The full sweet amount is just too much for most people.

Absolutely perfect milk tea. I am a fanatic fans for milk tea and I have tried many milk teas in Chicago, Indianapolis west Lafayette, and lafayette. It is the best one. They use real milk and tea, and chewy boba. I strongly recommend this milk tea.

Plus, the salted cream float-black tea is also amazing. I recommend it, together with house milk tea.

For sweetness, I think quarter sweet is enough.

Tried it for the 1st time and reallly liked it. Ordered roasted brown sugar milk tea and it tastes a little different than normal black with milk. But it tastes good 👍

White-washed take on the classical Taiwanese drink. Over-priced. The fact of the matter is that you can get much better (and more authentic) bubble tea at the numerous other bubble tea places in the greater Lafayette and West Lafayette area. This is the Chipotle of bubble tea.

As far as the seating goes, it isn't much of a lounge, looks like they found a bunch of park/patio furniture and put it indoors under a bunch of wobbly tables. Dust on almost everything. Bare-bones aesthetic that makes me wonder if it is a school cafeteria or a legit study place. None of the outlets in the place work, so if your laptop needs a charge, you're out of luck.

Also, I don't think that any of the staff members speak Chinese, at least none of the staff members did when I was there. Not sure how you can have a bubble tea place where no one actually knows the name of the drink they are serving.

Overrated, underdone, and inauthentic.

This is a great place for newcomers and regulars alike. Latea was where I was introduced to the concept of bubble tea, and it's been hard to find a place that can match their quality around here. Would highly recommend giving it a try.

Better than Tsacoa, similar to Kung Fu.

Pros:
Fantastic tea. Couldn't ask for better.
They have 900mL drinks for pretty cheap ($6.83ish with boba).
They have a chocolate tea that is basically an amazing milkshake.

Cons:
They are far from good study spaces. Biking up Chauncey with 900mL of boba is not fun, trust me.
I tend to spend more than I mean to, because of the good deals. (Is this really a con?)

Overall, I would rate Latea SLIGHTLY higher than kung fu tea. Kung fu has a more refined flavor in their 'Kung fu' flavor, but Latea has cheaper drinks per mL. Also Latea has very friendly staff. :)

good atmosphere and good tea, would recommend. (it was a little slow so only 4 stars)
