I love the vegan BLT and delicious salads here! There are some very sweet and friendly members of staff; however, the customer service is inconsistent. A few particular members of staff have been very rude to me on more than one occasion. They’ve also messed up my order more than once. For example, I just ordered English breakfast tea and was given Earl Grey. I drank it, because I don’t want to deal with an eye roll for pointing out the mistake. Another thing- for some reason, it’s always freezing in this cafe. Currently, it’s a pretty chilly day. It’s frigid in here and the ceiling fans are on. Why?

Ordered a bacon broccoli cheddar quiche, expecting a small portion. The wedge was bigger than expected and delicious. The fruit cup portion size was larger than expected too. Food arrived quickly. My toasted marshmallow latte was priced appropriately and well made. We will definitely be back!

The coffee is good, but I found the staff to be uppity and rude both times I've gone. The first time I saw a waitress yell at someone for having an unopened can of soda that he didn't buy there, the next time I didn't pronounce something correctly (even though she likely knew what I meant either way), so the waitress rolled her eyes and corrected me. There also isn't a lot of room, so you get really cozy with the people in the next table.

Good service and great cafe food. Coffee is great too. The food menu is a very interesting variety of sandwiches plus other options like salmon and quiche. I suggest you try a sandwich on one of their bagel. There is a lot to choose. Coffee is great. They have both pour on and espressos which makes Blackbird a great place for any taste.

Blackbird Cafe is my one and only local coffee stop. Local shops like this are cultural hubs of our community. A great place to meet new people and friends. Good music, friendly staff, and coffee that is to die for. All products are reasonably priced and definitely worth it. Overall a comfy and relaxing vibe. Also showcases local artists and sells their art right off the walls. A perfect place to chill.

This is my go-to restaurant when I'm in Valpo Indiana..I like mostly everything except the Oatmeal. For 1/2 small bowl of Oatmeal with dried inorganic fruit and a few nuts, would be more, with a milk choice. Almost $6.00. Totally not worth it. Maybe a moneymaker for Blackbird and I understand. I like almost everything else including employees and atmosphere..

Wonderful coffee shop and cafe located in downtown Valpo one block east of the square. Large menu for both breakfast and lunch with wonderful food and some of the best coffee in town. Great bakery selection of homemade pies, cookies, pastries, and more. Comfortable atmosphere makes it welcoming for families as well.

Best place for coffee in Valpo! The Highlander Grogg is to die for! Is nice that they are open later, all of the other local coffee shops close at 5. Great prices and friendly service, and the food is good as well.

Love blackbird! All the food and drinks I’ve had here have been very good, and the staff are friendly and always seem to go above and beyond. They have a few vegan food options too which is a big plus. One of my favorite places to stop for lunch.

This is the only place I've been to that serves coffee that I'd prefer over anywhere else, even my beloved Starbucks! If you like teas, there's a seemingly infinite amount to choose from. Their pastries are made fresh, and taste pretty damn good. Add in a nice, laid back environment with free wifi, and you'll end up spending a lot of time there like I do.
