They have ice cream, coffee sandwiches, shakes. The atmosphere is cool. I wish they didn’t have the slot machines it messes with the chill vibe. The guy was pretty cool. But the old lady… she was pretty grumpy.. messed with the vibe.. messed up our order twice.. it was our first time there no one listed the menu online so I took photos of it. I will return.. the coffee was pretty sweet so next time I will try something else but even though it was sweet the flavor was good. I just wish the old lady would stay in the back and do the paperwork and not the orders… but can’t let one grumpy old lady mess up your day.. just smile and move on.

The place is cute, there's outside seating and places to sit inside. I've passed this place hundreds of times but never stopped in until recently.

For me, the service was v e r y slow and I wasn't too impressed with the coffee. We were there on a slow Sunday afternoon and I can't imagine what the rush periods look like. Other reviews said they waited over 45 minutes.

I used a credit card to pay but the charge I received and the amount the cashier told me were two different numbers. Perhaps a higher charge for credit card payments? If they mentioned there were different prices for cash vs. card, I would have paid cash, especially since the difference was $2+ on top of already expensive drinks.

Chocolate chip cookie and espresso are ok. My complaint is it's a little pricey. Spent a little over $7 altogether. Lots of choices to pick from like sandwiches to alcohol. Lots of seating including outdoor patio seating. They also hold shows/events upstairs. Interesting coffee shop in the downtown area of willow springs.

Last time I came - about a year ago - there was the sweetest girl there who was so kind to all the customers. The other day, I went in remembering the amazing service I had received, but was disappointed. There was an older couple there - the owners, I’m assuming - who saw me walk in and stand by the counter, but didn’t say anything. I was waiting for about 2 whole minutes before the man took my order.

I work at an ice cream shop, and often I’m the only one working, so I understand that sometimes a customer must wait, especially when it gets busy. However, I always greet with a smile and offer a “I’ll be with you in a moment!” The owners did not offer even a nod of acknowledgment. I felt like a bother, when I was the only one in line.

I was the only one in line, and the few that were sitting already had their coffee. 2 minutes later, the man takes my order. He was nice after, but I was just disappointed at the service. Coffee was ok, too sweet but that’s how I ordered it.

A literal house converted to a coffee house.

After an 8-hour meeting for work (with a lunch break), I needed some coffee to revitalize me. I resorted to Yelp to point me in a direction that wasn’t Starbucks or Dunkin’. As much as I love those places, when I am out of town, I want a taste of what the locals offer. I was losing hope as my search was bringing up nothing that wasn’t a restaurant that happened to serve coffee until I saw Ashbary. I didn’t bother looking at the reviews and picked the place since it looked cool in the one photo I saw and it was coffee first.

As I sat at the lights, I was looking at Ashbary and thought to myself that this place had to be unique on the inside as it is on the outside. Boy, was I in for a surprise. I parked my card and made my way in. Upon entering, I was greeted by the cashier and the punk music pouring out from the speakers. Not only that, but the place screamed punk does coffee. Not only coffee but they had a plethora of ice creams to choose from. Not only that but they seemingly had a sandwich/panini menu to order from. Not only that but there were slot machines to play on. Not only that but the menu seemed to offer coffee mixed with ice cream.

I was too awestruck by everything to properly ask the guy behind the counter what half the menu is and settled on a large hot Americano with a chocolate biscotti stick and a gluten-free cookie. The coffee didn’t take long to make and once I had it, I sat down to enjoy my biscotti stick while I continued to take in the… everything. That’s when I notice the panini menu and regretted not ordering something off there as I was hungry (but still had my leftover Chinese back in my hotel room).

When the biscotti stick was gone, I gathered up my things and left. I had a gym reservation at the hotel that I needed to make and my coffee had to wait to be properly tasted until my gym visit was over. You bet the second I walked in to my room, the coffee was in my hand and I was taking big swigs from it. With americanos, they tend to be bitter as they are just espresso and water. Sounds disgusting on paper but it’s my current favorite way to drink coffee if it’s available. This was surprisingly smooth and might be the best one I’ve ever had. It’s hard to say since it cooled down a bit due to my gym excursion but even taking that in, it was super delicious and hit the spot and then some. As I tried to not chug my coffee, I tried the gluten-free cookie. I bought it on a whim to help support local businesses and it complimented the coffee in a great way as it was just a little bit dry and that was rectified by taking a sip of coffee.

I can’t help but feel that my one visit to Ashbary is not enough to really take in the place. Between the punk music playing, the creative food offerings, and the general odd decor… you just don’t get a good feel for place like this on one visit.

My time in Burr Ridge ends tomorrow (for now) but should I need to come back for work reasons, re-visiting Ashbary will be a high priority on my list. Between the potential ice cream/coffee combos they seem to offer on the menu and the paninis on the other menu, I feel a second visit is warranted when the opportunity arises.

Oh, they also offer beer. This place really is unique.

Stumbled across this place
I have passed by this place 100 times and never stopped in, so today I did - I should have kept going .....
Their special of the day is old frozen foods they don't want to loose money on so they call it the speciL of the day. My little sister could have made a much better one and and over-priced!
Could have been a little cleaner.

Cozy place post walk/run/bike ride in the nearby areas (trails)
We finally decide to try it and definitely will be back. More to try….

One of the coolest little spots you could visit. Plenty of parking, the desserts are delicious, the environment is warm and welcoming including the amazing employees and obviously, the coffee and tea are the reason to come!

1st time here. Great coffee selections that are unique and barista was very helpful. Had 2 treats that were amazing. Only 4 stars due to the seats not that comfy for those of us with back pain

The food was absolutely delicious. I had a Mama Cass Panini type sandwich. A latte coffee, followed by a piece of Terramasu cake. On another note, they need investors at this location to help with refurbishing and updating the Decor and the Furniture, and then this location will be a gold mine.
