My friends and I decided to go here as we try to experiment with new restaurants in the local area and have throughout our time at U of I. There were 6 of us and only one table at the restaurant could accommodate more than 6 people, so we had to wait for the party to finish. Not a huge issue, but if you have a larger party, beware! The service was horrendous, we had to ask multiple times for more drinks and the food took forever. It wasn't super busy when we were there, so there are no excuses for either of the issues. The food however was very good and the portions were very large. The prices were also very reasonable for the amount of food provided. Overall a below average experience.
Cute space with Covid appropriate spacing. Food was ok, but not hot. But the atmosphere and service was nice. I probably would not go back as breakfast is really easy to do right so eating cold food just isn’t worth a second trip.
Looking for a hometown feel and decent meal? I have been going here since the 80s and they always have great service, ambiance, and a nice hometown experience. Take your time to enjoy the small town feel. Enjoy!
This was a great quaint little diner. I went there for brunch and ordered a #10 Reuben. This sandwich was great and will be enough to satisfy a hungry customer, but leaning more on the expensive side. My total for two people before tipping was around $28, falling in the $10-20 range per person. I would definitely consider revisiting to try the other menu items, but I don't see myself becoming a regular.
Love the charm of this place. We have been going there for more than a decade now. Though vegetarian options are limited, we typically love whatever we have tried there and service is always friendly and great. We went there this weekend for a late breakfast, it was still crowded. We had a long wait for table and then for food. Well, this goes to show the popularity of this place. The server was very friendly and tried to get our little ones food as early as he could because he was getting restless and very hungry. As usual the food was good. Good enough that we pounced on it before I could take any pictures :). I took some pictures while we were waiting.
Visited the Courier Cafe at around 2 pm on a Saturday. The place wasn’t two busy. Atmosphere was very cute, very classic. The food was good, reasonable also! However, the service was not good at all. I believe our waitress (we really didn’t know if we had one or not) got oversat, as per the other girl who helped her out, which is unfortunate. I think getting things a bit more ironed out and making sure everyone can work without getting too stressed would really help.
This place is a gem. Having recently moved here from Chicago, it's been hard finding a really good breakfast spot. We are looking forward to trying their ice cream and milkshakes in the near future 😋

Not sure what happened here. It used to be good food and good service. Disappointing visit this time. Cheese curds were good
