Shared open space coffee shop with a pinball machine. Vibrant and lively in a foodie neighborhood. I normally don't drink coffee so I tried their cold brew jasmine tea, and I highly recommend that as a summer drink: no sugar, just the pure fragrance from jasmine that leaves a pleasant aftertaste. The store owners are super friendly and photogenic 😀 Pinball machine is hard (or you know, I am just not good at it 😅)
Hmmm nearly 400 reviews. What can I possibly say that hasn't been said before?
Great place. Great coffee. Great donuts. Seriously I know they only bring them in from donut vault but man they're so good. It's cool how they display them on repurposed skateboards. The baristas are really friendly too. They take a real interest in your life and don't see it as a chore to have s conversation with you. The wifi is pretty fast but this isn't a great working spot. There is a sense of hustle and bustle and being combined with a restaurant meant that the atmosphere is all wrong to type out your next essay. However it is great to just hangout at! The lights are beautiful and if they're ever full you can always go sit at the other restuarant seating area.
This might be my favorite coffee shop anywhere. The creativity and style of the space and the beverages together really make for a unique coffee shop experience. I visit Chicago once per year and for several trips I've visited Sawada and have yet to be disappointed. I usually get a Dirty Chai Latte or the Military but this time opted for the Black Camo Latte which I really enjoyed. I tried coming in on a Sunday but the line was out the door and I waked to another shop nearby that is also good, I came back on Tuesday to be 2nd in line and received a much more chill experience.
This place is a MUST for any coffee lover. I’ve had coffee all over the world and I will say this truly has the best coffee EVER. High Five Mocha hot coffee was literally the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had in my life
I ordered military latte. It taste great but it’s pricy ($8) for a cup of coffee. The space is shared and it’s such a great place to hang out or work.
One of the first coffee shops I ever visited in Chicago. This place has something for everyone. It's a big warehouse with a coffee bar when you enter and a drink bar with some food as you go down the steps. I would describe this place as grunge, raw and awesome! It has a great energy with music playing and lots of people occupying their wooden chairs. The service is like any other cafe - easy and quick. The coffee is good too - I like their mocha and love the fresh orange zest they do on top of it. It brings out the chocolate in the mocha even more and chocolate with any citrus is a good combination. Their chai tea latte wasn't that tasty. A lot of people get their matcha drinks because it comes straight from Japan. Which is really cool but too bad I never developed a taste for matcha anything. Try this place out, it's worth a visit.
I got the military latte and it was amazing. I didn't think matcha and espresso would mix so well together until I came here. I'm very picky with matcha but they did a good job in making it (wasn't bitter). Good service and vibes. I also love how spacious the place was. Definitely coming back here again when I visit Chicago soon!
