Bottom line: Great coffee, great mission. Great local shop to support!

Been following this concept for a while and it was nice to visit the permanent location! Always love coffee with a side of empowerment. Treat yourself to that raspberry buckeye donut while you're at it.

I got there right when they opened around 8am on Thursday and Bella who was working was so nice! My cinnamon crunch old fashioned donut is delicious — soft in the inside, perfect crunch of sweetness on the outside! I ordered a lavender oat latte, which was donation based (suggested $6/7) and it tastes immaculate! Really nice chill vibe especially when it’s early in the morning! Highly recommend this place 😌

Christopher the owner is one of the kindest souls I have ever met. Got to enjoy wonderful conversation while he brewed up absolutely perfect coffee in a cup with an inspirational message that I swear was hand picked just for us. I had the Lil Kim Dirty Caramel Latte and my wife had the Beyonce lavender and honey. Both were sooooo good. I had to buy a shirt just so I'd have a reason to talk to people about this amazing coffee shop in the future. Coffee, Hip-hop and Mental Health has earned a forever customer anytime I can make it back to Chicago.

Honestly, I'm not gonna be able to capture the essence of why this is the best place in the city/state/country, so bare with me yall...

From outside on the street, you're drawn in by the smell of rich coffee and spice.
Once you're in the door, you're greeted by the sounds of smooth R&B crooning on the speakers, a warm smile from the baristas (one of whom is the owner himself), and their discussion of 20th century rappers' philosophies.
Standing at the counter, you're wondering which drink you really need first, Queen Latifah or Lauryn Hill?
Once you've let someone else pick for you (bc life is too hard to let decision making stress you out) and made your donation (which helps to fund free mental Healthcare), nestle into the lovely arm chair or high top table and be yourself.

The space sows a great feeling of comfort and safety and family.

Come for the vibes and coffee, stay got for the love.

I got the Normalize Therapy, and I ate it all before i could even remember to take a picture😅 The donut was a cinnamon old fashioned, and was a delightful texture: the right mix of sweet and moist, and crunchy. The donut was served on top of my Watch the Throne Lavender & Rose latte (also spectacular!), with whipped cream and white chocolate drizzle. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and pleasant. This is someplace worth coming to again and again, and supporting in all ways. 10/10 I would recommend.

Love this spot! Awesome baristas who are very encouraging and sweet to talk to. They change up some menu items every once and a while so you can order your fave or try something new every time you go. I really like the atmosphere and appreciate the work they do beyond the bar. They’re advocacy for mental health is inspiring! The space fosters great community and conversation. I highly recommend their chais and lemonades. Every purchase here is a donation! Grab a coffee for a cause today!

I don't normally leave reviews, but I had such a pleasant experience that I feel compelled to. Coffee, Hip-Hop & Mental Health has such an awesome atmosphere, the workers are so friendly and the mission is so wholesome I couldn't help but walk out with a smile. I will definitely be back

I’m really glad I stumbled Across this fine establishment it’s funny how you run across stuff in life and I don’t think it was a coincidence. Coffee, Hip hop and mental health has the best tasting coffee I ever tasted, and also has a great story behind it that has me wanting to work on my mental health. I can’t wait to bring my lady here it’s the perfect place just for that!

The drinks are SO GOOD. I had the new special and it was delicious! I felt like the food critic in ratatouille, when he eats remys cooking and is transported to his childhood- that was me. The drink was sweet with just enough lime! It reminded me of getting coconut and lime ice cream outside La pulga as a child in the west side. Amazing.
