Payette Dream Coffee House and Diner

My family and I visited this establishment on 06.15.20 at around 11:45am for lunch. There were 3 adults and 1 baby in our party. When we arrived and throughout our dining there was 3-4 other tables of diners.

👍 Pricing: Seemed fair and comparable to other similar businesses in McCall.

👎🏻 Menu: Not much variety or choices. Pretty basic.

👎🏻 Service: Our server acted as though we were an inconvenience. To the extreme that when our food came out incorrect, we said nothing since we seemed to irritate our server by merely ordering food. She never even came back to see if everything was ok, refill drinks or even provide us with silverware. Another table had issues which escalated and the way it was handled was unprofessional and inappropriate.

👍 Wait Time: The wait between placing our order and receiving it was efficient.

👎🏻 Food Quality: Below average. Finger steaks were overcooked, dry and hard. The burger we ordered was rare and missing half the toppings the menu listed. We ordered an appetizer which was delivered after our entree’s. Ranch should’ve been served with our order but we were told they were out.

Overall bad experience, which is sad since the location of this restaurant is central. I enjoy giving praise when I review a business, but I have little to none for this one 😖

Just stopped in for breakfast it was absolutely a nightmare we were 2 hrs getting our food and when it finally came it was cold as ice. I normally dont write reviews but thought I needed to share this they kept saying how busy they were but there was only a few people in there. It was high priced ndisgusting

We went on the first day of the diner section was open. It was not busy and I hope they do well. My son and I got some really great burgers and some fries that I can only describe as curly steak fries. The burger was cooked medium and so it still was juicy and had great flavor. The hostess was very friendly and our server also was too.

Honestly, the only thing holding this place back is a lack of parking. My kids love the etch-a-Sketch’s and chess boards. The food was as good or much better than anyplace else we have been in McCall. The owner and the the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The portions are great, not too big and not too small (likeGoldielocks once said”just right”). This has become our preferred breakfast eatery.

Best pancakes I've had in a very long time! The owner was great to interact with and he had our food out quickly especially since he was alone and there were 3 of us. It's nice to be able to support a local business.

The coffee was average but the young barista was not friendly and seemed annoyed I was making a purchase at this establishment. However, my girls loved their birthday cake ice cream and huckleberry milkshake. The aesthetic was rough and seats on the booths were duct taped together.

My wife and I decided to take the two hour drive to McCall to spend the day looking at the scenery and getting a bite to eat.

We saw what looked like a very nice diner and coffee shop. We entered, masks adorned, to see they were seating with social distancing. We were second in line for about 10 minutes when a young man came over and said it would be 30-40 minutes and took phone numbers of those parties in line.

We left and took a walk noticing most nothing was open. We took in the beautiful lake and walked back to the diner. We stopped in the coffee shop and ordered a couple of cups of coffee. As we waited another couple walked in the diner area. Around this time a blonde waitress walked into the coffee shop area and was told by the young man he had the numbers of the people who were waiting. That waitress stormed out saying I don’t have time to call anyone I am just seating the next people. My wife immediately spoke up and said we are here. I walked over to the diner side and said we were here and ready to be seated. Virtually ignored, they sat the people who had just walked in. I told another waitress we were here first. She said we are cleaning another table and that will be yours. I balked at that telling her we waited almost 40 minutes and she should apologize to the people seated and seat my wife and I.

Well needless to say that did not happen. I was so angry and annoyed I walked to the back where the two waitresses were and said you know, my wife and I were to be seated and not the people who had walked in. The blond waitress retorted, we are running short staffed Please be patient. I said we were patient for the last 40 minutes and she should pull her head out of he a$$. She then said I could leave. I said no worries we would never return.

The overall demeanor of that blonde waitress was poor. She had no intention of honoring those who were there first. It’s no wonder there is a for sale sign in the window!

We only got the ice cream here, but the price was fantastic and the ice cream was delicious. I recommend the waffle cone with huckleberry heaven and chocolate.
You get a LOT of ice cream for a good price.
The helper, don’t remember her name, but was very helpful and cheerful even though she was bombarded with two large groups all at once.

Service wasn't good. Asked for coffee, never got it or water. Food was meh. Not worth the price for the quality and service. Wouldn't recommend.

Worst service ever. Was here last weekend and had a bad experience but was willing to give them a second chance. That was a mistake! Three very immature young girls behind the counter chatting and ignoring everyone. People waiting and I overheard two other customers complain. Don't waste your time.
