Fantastically charming building, friendly staff, good coffee, homemade treats, local artisan offerings. The Blue Lantern embodies everything you want in “your” local coffee spot. The baristas are helpful, willing to give a recommendation and knowledgeable in their suggestions. If they don’t make or carry exactly what you ordered they will accommodate as best they can or suggest alternatives to make sure you get what you want. I visited three times in my three days in Lewiston and was pleased each time.

Dropped in during the evening and got a piece of spinach + onion quiche — definitely from scratch. Best quiche I’ve ever had! You could tell that the spinach and onion were sautéed before baking. Do I even like spinach? Not really, but they made it delicious. Will I go back in the morning? Absolutely.

Super cute cafè with decent food options and espresso. I'm happy they have some gluten free options. They could offer a little more variety on alternative milk options.

Awesome coffee and tea shop with local wines and amazing pastries made in house!! The manager was super knowledgeable and very friendly. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area.
The carrot cupcake was so good, after I ate the first one, I had to go back and get another.

Cozy atmosphere. There are several different areas with tables to choose from, so if you’re wanting to have a private conversation over a drink, this is the place. There’s also a lot of local artists and makers who sell stuff in the front. It’s a bit spendy but it supports local people. Good drinks too.

Ohh... This place kinda swept me off my pre-coffee feet. Not being from the area, I didn't know what to expect, but the visit was wonderful.
Gon (sp?) went above and beyond the Baristo role while I was there. Storyteller, historian, local promoter, and travel guide, we covered a myriad of topics in my cup-of-coffee-length time there.
The historic building is gorgeous! It's worth the trip alone, but that's not to undersell the locally roasted coffee. I also took a scone with me, but am bummed, as I was not told these would be some of the better scones I'd ever eaten in my life. Had I known, I would've bought far more.
This place will be an "always stop" place for me when I find myself in the area in the future. I surely appreciate it.

Nice historic vibe about this place. The kind of atmosphere you'd expect from a local coffee shop. Very friendly personable service. Great coffee and pastries.

What a cute little coffee shop! Great atmosphere, cute gift shop and awesome coffee. I’m also impressed this place had several gluten free options to choose from.

Update: I gave The Blue Lantern another try and had a really great experience so I decided to update my last revie. What I noticed this time,
and enjoyed thoroughly, is that they offer organic, freshly baked scones! They are amazing! I had a hot Breve’ that was perfect and very flavorful. I’m leaving my last post here just so people will realize that sometimes a person is a little off in their taste that day and maybe the business is just right. Try places a second time, you might be surprised, like I am today.
Just okay. The atmosphere is cool because of the old building. The coffee just didn’t knock my socks off. I’m sure it was made correctly, it just didn’t have a fantastic flavor.
