Best Mac n cheese I have eaten. Ever. Give it a good stir after they deliver it, bring up all that melty creamy goodness. Then enjoy! I had a delicious half turkey with cream cheese and cranberry sandwich. Plenty of food. That sandwich, made on fresh daily bakery bread, had at least an inch worth of turkey, than all the fresh veg. It was phenomenal. My mom had the roast beef, again loaded high and every bit fresh and fantastic. We will be back. Must try breakfast next. I kind of hate to give away our secret, but arrive at off hours. We got there around 11:40am, by 12:10pm there was a line. They hussled people in very efficiently, but still if you can, arrive at off peak times would be my recommendation... Also don't forget dessert. We split a very tasty lemon bar this visit. Can't wait to try other desserts too.

I had take-out and ordered the Cuban, the berry turkey sandwich and Mac and cheese. I was pleasantly surprised at the huge portions. The food quality is some of the best I have tasted at a deli. The Mac and cheese is a must when you visit. I'll definitely be back!

Finally, there’s a fresh, clean, and locally owned option in this small town. The Black Cow Cafe and Mercantile is a teeny-tiny garage(?)-turned-eatery planted right off Highway 95 serving breakfast and lunch. They also have lots of adorable merc including locally made jewelry, clothes and household items.
On 08/07/2021 I ordered the Holey Cow sandwich (sliced roast beef, Swiss cheese, $10.95) with Peach iced tea (they have a variety of flavors, $4.50) and my mother got the Bird & Berry (sliced turkey, craisins, Swiss cheese, cream cheese, sprouts and tomatoes, $9.95). The food was made quick and tasted great. Both sandwiches were stuffed with very generous amounts of super fresh, high-quality meat, which completely justifies the steeper prices (relative to other sandwich shops in the area). The Peach Ice was excellent as well, a little spendy but definitely worth it and I would recommend!
Now the bad. I hate doing this but I want to point it out because it’s been nearly two weeks and this still slightly bothers me. I noticed our order seemed pricier than what was printed on the menu so I asked what the breakdown was. I was informed there was price increase on some of the menu items, which I totally understand and support! A business has gotta make it’s money, and cost of goods are increasing. What I do not appreciate is no signage or heads up before ordering that there is a price increase, and having to figure it out myself. It’s not that hard to slap a handwritten sign at the front simply stating “Price increases beginning [whenever]. Please ask cashier.” To charge someone more without telling then just seems sketchy and discourteous.
I’m probably going to go back because the food is excellent. And every place deserves a second chance. I look forward to updating this to a 5 star review soon. :)

The staff seemed a little hesitant of two obvious out-of-towners rolling through on a road trip haha, but holy cow was the food good. And the portions were huge for the price! I happily give this spot my stamp of approval. If I'm ever passing through again, I'll be stopping here for sure. It seems like a local favorite as well!

I was so excited to try a small town, local restaurant and we were very disappointed. I got a sandwich, and I will say the portions are huge! It is very filling and for the price, it was very reasonable. My bread was on the burned side. But, the filling was overwhelming. The ham was plentiful, but it had almost no flavor and quite a bit of fat. My husband got a flatbread, again generous portions, but his dough was raw.
The inside is HOT. They have fans, but their AC unit is just not enough to combat 100 degree heat.
The staff was friendly, but with everywhere, they are short staffed. As a result, the kitchen was pretty dirty with dishes and counter space.
I will Say the have lots of potential! The staff was working hard and they had a good looking menu. Just a little refinement.

It’s almost dangerous this place is so close to me. Their Cuban is hands down the best sandwich I’ve had in my life. It’s perfection. One night I literally dreamed of eating it and it was torture to wait for them to open just so I can order it again. I’d post of picture of that beautiful juicy sandwich, but it’s already in my stomach by the time I remember to take a picture..
When I die and my life flashes before my eyes, the first time eating this sandwich is going to be one of those memories that comes back to me that I treasure. Thank you.

Their chocolate chip and bacon cookies looked amazing, but I was too full after my sandwich.
