Barista was really cool and we even saw him doing some coffee art on another customers coffee. The place itself is really clean and has a great quiet atmosphere. We grabbed our coffees to go but honestly we will probably be back to just chill out inside. They have a little upstairs area that looks really nice to just chill out. I got a Americano and my wife got a Chai tea and we both loved them. Definitely will be back here.

Really cool ambiance and DELICIOUS coffee. I had an 8 oz mocha and it was a good balance of sweet & bitter flavors. My son had a blueberry muffin which I tasted and wow, it was delicious! Fluffy and sweet and tastes homemade. The only issue was the barista seemed a little overwhelmed with the drink orders. He set mine out but said "8 oz latte" so I waited, but my drink didn't come, so I asked if it was my mocha and he sort of said "I don't think so but taste it and see." It ended up being mine. Kind of weird, but maybe this guy was new? Even with this oddball part of the experience, I would definitely be back.

Form & Function is one of my favorite Boise coffee shops for the following reasons:

1. The amazing coffee - these baristas know their stuff. From single origins to blends, the flavor notes hit exceptionally well and the coffee is unique and made with expertise that you don't find at many coffee houses.

2. The atmosphere - clean, modern, and reserved - this is not Dut*h Bros so don't expect to be greeted by a 14 year old teenager on their 8th Rebel for that day. The baristas are quiet, the music is tasteful and makes it easy to focus on work or school, and the decorations are modern and clean.

3. The prices - when I go somewhere to get coffee, I am prepared to pay for quality coffee but not spend $8 on a pour over. Form & Function has this dialed. The prices are excellent and what you should expect/quite reasonable for what you get.

Bottom line, don't expect Starbucks speed or Dutch Bros pop music when you visit Form & Function but get ready for a tasty, flavorful, and expertly crafted cup of coffee.

If you are seeking a perfect cup of coffee in the kind of place you can imagine with lines of foodies if it were transported to San Francisco. Better than blue bottle, there I said it. Every pastry I tried was a thoughtful exploration of flavor. Avocado toast and porridge both beautiful. Staff is kind and music mellow!

Great coffee, not so great service. We were in Boise and forgot the mask in the hotel room. The coffee shop did not have any masks to offer to accommodate. Got picked on for not having the mask; however the barista touched multiple surfaces before putting lid on the coffee, not safe.

Wanted to try some good local roasts so decided to stop in today around 940 - waited in line 7 mins or so to hear the order in front of me denied getting pour over bc they’re behind on food and “it takes too much time”. I get it to a point but it’s kind of a peeve of mine and tend to avoid coffee shops that can’t/don’t/won’t prioritize making coffee to food or other things. I’d just go to a good diner that carries local roasted beans personally, so we got out of line to go try another roaster in town.

The vibes were decent and it was clean and airy so I’m not gonna give 1 star but I wouldn’t come here if you’re here for a short amount of time visiting and want to try a good roast via Pour over, French press, aero press etc (they only offer pour over but maybe should consider adding aero press to menu if time crunch is causing the shop to shut down the only offering available that isn’t batch brew).

Here at Form & Function, form does indeed follow function. Staff is very quick at completing orders even on a busy day. Store overall is very clean and has a crisp modem profile throughout. Plenty of seating, so come on by and do enjoy, they're great.

Currently under mask mandate.

An excellently designed modern coffee shop with tons of power plug-ins and space to work on your own or collaboratively. The space is very spacious and cozy at the same time. The drink selection will get you some of the basics, but they usually run some hit-or-miss seasonal drinks.

Excellence coffee done right and other goodies

I am unfortunately dropping my review down to 2 stars. The quality of the product and service here has declined over the last few months. I was treated so poorly by an employee earlier this Summer I planned to not come back. The few times I have come in since then it feels more like a chore for the employees to take my order.
