Some of the best coffee we had since being in Hawaii. Minimalist, light and airy atomosphere. The coffee was brewed tastefully and milk choices (almond and soy) complimented the roast perfectly.

I visited Maui with my family a couple weeks ago and we stayed in Kihei for our trip. I had searched online for good coffee shops close to our condo and found several good ones within a mile or two. But while looking for another coffee shop I stumbled across Akamai, it was kind of hidden in a small office building.

I decided to give this place a try, not doing any prior research online. Something was calling me to give this place a chance, and I'm so glad I did.

My first impression of the inside was very clean and modern, with a touch of green foliage across the wall. It reminded me of some of the coffee shops back home in Seattle. And apparently the barista working that day had lived in Seattle for a short time as well, and that opened up the conversation about their coffee.

I was given a quick introduction to Akamai and how they roast only local Maui grown coffee, which was exactly what I was looking for initially when searching for a good coffee shop nearby. It's all organic and is one of the few growers on the island that doesn't spray their crops, which appealed to me. But once I tried the coffee, I was blown away by the quality and flavor.

I was sold on the first sip, and I went back every morning for the next week to get my morning coffee. I didn't even want to try any other local coffee shops, I had found the best coffee in Maui!!!

I even bought one of their hats to take back home to Seattle, and everyone is asking me where I got it. It's a black Akamai Coffee Co. hat with a pineapple on the front, and it's really comfortable swag. I also grabbed a bag of the Maui Mokka to take back home, which was highly recommended by the barista as her favorite.

Anyways, I highly recommend you give this place a visit next time your in Maui. If you're a coffee connoisseur such as myself, then you will be rewarded with amazing service and the best coffee at Akamai.

Thank you very much for the experience and making my trip to Maui even better!!!

After searching maui for the best coffee I finally found this gem hidden away in the corner of a building.
Hard to find an little signage but well worth the trouble for decent coffee or tea

Excellent pour over coffees and banana bread. We tried the Makawao Ave light roast and Peaberry - both great, and well priced

This place is a popular spot in Kieih, there is a drive through if you're not interested in going in though. The pastries are great, the almond croissants are amazing and their cinnamon rolls are buttery and flaky. The coffee is strong (4 shots in a 20 oz) and everything is lightly flavored. If you're used to the sweet drinks of Starbucks or similar, this isn't what you'll get here without making some special requests. If you enjoy a nice coffee and don't mind spending a little extra for it, it's a great place to go. You should definitely try any of their pastries if you can as they're top notch.

Love the vibe at both Kihei and Wailea location. Great coffee, atmosphere and friendly staff. The only negative we can see is the lack of wifi..If you need to get anything done on the computer, go elsewhere.

The cappuccino was watery. I was disappointed.

We came to this Akamai location at least four times during our trip to Maui. Coffee and service was very consistent. We were making our own coffee at home in the early mornings, and coming here mid-late morning for an iced coffee. I highly recommend the NOLA which is a cold-brewed, slightly sweetened option you can get with any kind of milk (oat milk mixed wonderfully!). They also have delicious pastries, even though you won't see that on their menu. Clean inside - didn't see any overflowing garbage cans, dirty tables, or tumbleweeds. Used the drive thru once - on the other visits I walked in.

Each time we have been treated with true Aloha. Drive through or dine in Kihei or Home Depot shack. The super good coffee has us coming back for our daily fix! I’d recommend the iced honey bee! Yum!
