My wife and I sampled the Sugar Magnolia shrimp and grits while at the Jekyll Island shrimp and grits festival and thought I would look them up while staying in Statesboro. Although there was plenty of outdoor and indoor seating , I sat at the bar, and the bartender Amanda was professional, helpful, and prompt. The decor is somewhat rustic, and there was a good vibe with several friendly patrons. I had the cheese tray and pork chop with brussels sprouts.

I had to stop in the middle of our brunch to write this review. The atmosphere is amazing, music is spot on. I feel like I’m in Italy. We had the house special and it really amazed us. I really recommend everybody to stop by!!

This an absolutely amazing place to eat! The waitress was excellent, food was wonderful and they have the best filet ever!

The food here was amazing! I ordered the she-crab soup and fried pita sandwich. Both were absolutely excellent. The server was new but very attentive. The tea was okay; not quite sweet enough for "southern" style but that's just my personal preference. The fries were seasoned and really great! Its expensive, though, over $30 after tip. Quality is worth it, but this is a rare treat, not daily lunch.

Great service from a conscientious staff made lunch today at Sugar Magnolia an inviting and wonderful experience. The food was delicious and fresh. I had a California BLT with perfectly ripened avacados on ciabatta bread. My side of sauteed brussel sprouts, seasoned with bacon, was an amazing complement to the BLT.
It was all so good that I didn't want it to end there, so I had a blueberry cheesecake bar and a hot caramel latte for dessert. So much goodness packed into so few calories (LOL)!
I love this place and I visit whenever I come to Statesboro.

5 stars aren’t enough for this place! Exceptional food and mimosas (Lavender and Raspberry were my faves)! Ash was a fantastic waitress! A coworker recommended this place and we are so thankful he did! Can’t wait to dine here again!

New menu! My daughters are pescetarian, and they love it because there are lots of options to choose from. The filet is amazing! Best food in the Boro! Incomparable dining experience💕

Yallll the food here is so good!! The desserts are basic so I won’t come back for that (and they high too) but the she-crab soup is a must have! It’s bussin bussin! Of course it isn’t cheap but it’s definitely worth it. So go ahead and order the big portion cus if not you’re gonna wish that you did. Also, the kids meals come with a lot of food.

My wife and I enjoyed a Valentines dinner at Sugar Magnolia. This was a fantastic time as we were met by excellent staff. Our server explained the menu with excellence. The food was wonderful. The service excellent. Caroline Joyner has certainly created a five star restaurant.

I wanted to give this place a good review so bad because it’s local but that was the opposite of our experience. First of all the waitress was training another girl (which I totally understand as I have worked in food service, but when as many things have gone wrong with TWO people serving the table as did there is a major problem.) We told the waitress we needed a little time to figure out if we wanted to order a drink. She didn’t come back until 15 minutes later (really not a big deal but it escalated). We order a French 75 and an old fashioned. It takes almost 20 minutes to come out then we order an appetizer, it was your typical spinach and artichoke dip along with the drinks again, no big deal. We finish our crostinis and the waitress asks us if we want a refill on our bread for the dip and we say yes, why not? Well that was an up-charge (which was not mentioned) but honestly it was okay at this point. They come back about 10 minutes later and ask us we want to to order. My husband wanted the creole rigatoni. The waitress asked us if we wanted to sub the crawfish for steak or chicken and he said he wanted to sub it for steak!! Little did he know it was a $38 up-charge (It so happens that I am allergic to shellfish). Promptly after ordering our food the waitress asks if we would like another French 75 and Old fashioned. We say yes… Why not put the drink order in at the same time as our food, so we get it around the same time as the food comes out… Well we finished our food and still our drinks did not come. Finally, we say something to the other waitress named Jessica. Honestly, she seemed more equipped to train the girl our waitress was training but I digress. Our drinks came out about 5 minutes later almost 30 minutes after we initially ordered our drinks. When we get our bill we find out that the “substitution” my husband asked for on his creole pasta was an extra $38 dollars… Our waitress never mentioned a substitution would be this much on the protein. I could see $10-15 but not $38 EXTRA. We spent $176 on pasta and an APPETIZER with 2 drinks each. You might as well go to Circa 1875 for good French food in downtown Savannah. Don’t waste your money.
