Menu online is not up to date. Called at-least ten times to try and order ahead for appx 45 minutes and no one answered any time I called. Finally walked from my office to the cafe to order for myself and a couple of other people. Got there and after being walked past several times and not a word said to me the waitress came up for my order. I told her the appetizer I wanted and she said that they no longer carry that. I shrugged it off and went to the next order on my list which is the daily special CFS and she said that they no longer had that either. I told her I had been trying to call for some time and she rudely told me that they haven't been able to answer the phone which mind you had been sitting on the table right behind her. She picked the phone up and took it down the hall into another room and then came back out and handed me a menu and told me I could call the office and ask my coworkers what they wanted. I left because I did not have time to read the menu off to my co workers nor time to wait god knows how long for them to decide to cook the food I would have then had to figure out on the spot while eating my lunch hour up waiting when all they had to do the first time was answer the phone. I am very disappointed.

Beyond slow service, server said kitchen was backed up yet dining room was less than 40% capacity. Food was decent but in no way made up for slow service.

The food I've tried here has always been fantastic. The wait can be long, so plan accordingly, but it is definitely worth it. Great service and reasonable prices.

Awesome food. I really enjoyed the Eggs Benedict Blackstone and Irish style. I went by twice for breakfast while I was at the lake and both times service was fast and friendly.

So the one thing that makes a good southern breakfast for me would be some good grits! Well, I decided to try this place out because everyone raved about it. Ruined my day! The one thing I was waiting on wasn't even in the bag! OMG! I hate nothing worse than not getting what I paid for. Called back and asked if they could just remove the grits with cheese from my ticket...nope, not possible because it was included in the meal. Well, you know this so why did I not receive my ENTIRE meal! Then I'm told they will give me a free meal the next time I come in...NO THANKS! The sausage I did receive was nasty, eggs cold and the tomatoes were too ripe...worse morning ever...I'm still HUNGRY! Thanks but no thanks Local Yolkal Cafe...I'll make my way to the Huddle House from now on!

First time here, eggs wasn't cooked to order, biscuit was undercooked,,the waiter was more interested in a football game than refilling my coffee cup. Had to go find him after 20 minutes. Only thing he had going for him was that he was polite.

Excellent service and food! Super friendly staff. Felt like I'd known them my whole life! I'll be back - and you should go as well!

The LYC is a cute little place in downtown Milledgeville in the old section close to the college. It has big front windows letting in lots of natural light to fill the high ceilings of yesteryear. The decor is kinda all over the place but is something to look at. The large open space creates the acoustics of a cafeteria when they are busy. Where everyone talks louder and louder trying to hear the conversation of those at the table with them.
The selection on the menu is actually really quite surprising. I was able to order Eggs Benedict which is not that big of a deal in a large city, but this is Milledgeville. That being said, it was fantastic. The hollandaise was not powdered and had all the wonderful flavors of butter and a hint of lemon wrapped in a light creamy mouthgasim. The way it’s supposed to taste. The Canadian Bacon was a nice thick cut and the poached egg was cooked just right. I would say the yolk was thicker than runny but not quite cured. Kind of like honey in viscosity. This allowed it to adhere well to each bite giving it a full rounded flavor instead of pooling on the plate.
I did not include a photo because the presentation was lacking. Thus the 4 out of 5 star review.
I will be visiting the place again to try the other dishes and offerings. You should too if given the chance. I would recommend you just shoot for off peak times to make the experience more enjoyable.
