Key Largo Fisheries Backyard Cafe

If you love off the boat fresh fish and seafood, this place is for you. Grouper and tostones were cooked perfect, get the fish blackened. Mojito was light, effervescent and semi frozen. Delicious! Large shareable portions. All outdoor seating. Live entertainment. Get some fish to go from their fish market.

Really enjoyed sitting outdoors listening to music while having a cold beer and eating a Cuba dolphin sandwich. Sandwich was great, as was the peel and eat shrimp and fish ceviche. Will most definitely go back next time we are in the keys.

We love to go here for lunch. My husband's favorite is the fried shrimp basket. I like to try different things. Everything we have tried was good. They have outdoor seating by the water. You just can't beat the atmosphere! I highly recommend The Backyard Cafe.

Ordered: sword fish steak with rice and veggies (USD 21,95) and yellow tail with fries and coleslaw (USD 23 something). No table service.

What I liked:
- good price-quality
- fresh seafood
- the view from the picnic tables and the music
- the mini fresh seafood market next door
- you order at the counter and when the food is ready, your buzzer will tell you to pick up your order; efficient and this style matches the cafe

What I think could be improved:
- the staff (not very welcoming)

You can only enjoy your meal outdoors, and when it rains heavily (which happens sometimes in/around June ;)), some tables might get wet (I think it suits the scenery and surroundings)

Recommended by Gage from our snorkeling excursion, this place did not disappoint. If you are looking for fresh, well prepared sea food and fish, look no further. Per my mom, the conch fritters were a tad chewey, but the blackened mahi mahi and the grouper sandwich were incredible!

This place was awesome and delicious. Yes, you have to order at a counter and there is no table service. But, dining is outside and covered right next to the marina. Our fish lunch was the best of our trip, fresh, properly cooked, presented well, and most importantly delicious. They may be off the path but not by much and drive one extra mile to get real Florida Keys seafood experience.

Decent food but plastic cutlery and a paper plate is a bit of a letdown for the price. Real crockery might make this place feel a bit more premium. Fries were excellent but the fish was fairly average.

Great food and ambiance! The yellow tail fish is excellent. A must visit place to experience the keys lifestyle!

Great seafood. We had to go back the next day to try more. I would definitely recommend the grilled shrimp or the lobster BLT. For the sides go with the plantains. If you want an appetizer get the conch ceviche.
