I am absolutely in love with this place. From the vintage furniture and mid-century decor to the food and drinks. The vegan and vegetarian options are all absolutely delicious and so are the meat options. I didn't have one thing here that wasn't tasty. It's a long wait, but it is definitely worth it. I would totally franchise this place if the chef could train others to make such consistently delicious vegan/vegetarian food. I am beyond impressed and hope to come back on my next visit to Gainesville.

A 45 minute wait at a smelly, dirty, fly ridden outside bar to be seated. Then turns into an additional nearly 1.5 hour wait once seated to receive what could be best described as a below average burger ain’t cutting it for my hard earned money. As a Gainesville native returning for a visit, I’ll be removing this from the list of future pit stops.

Dimly lit - great environment and an eccletic crowd. Chef's creations are exquisite. Tasty and plentiful. "Vegan" nachos were the best we've had. Excellent variety of stylish drink choices. Tuna entree outstanding. Vegetables freshly steamed/lighly ccoked right. Dessert portions large. Great experience. This is a cool joint with friendly staff and a retro vibe. I had the fried chicken on potato roll that didn’t disappoint. I didn’t sees lava lamps with the mid century decor, but I bet there is one here.

The Top is one of the best restaurants in Gainesville, and it is always worth the long way. I had the privilege of going there multiple times during my trips to Gainesville, and each time I was not disappointed. I take that back. I was disappointed by the fact that on the multiple trips, I only had the restraint once to capture a photo. So many missed photo opportunities. Sigh. Anyway, the food here is excellent. My go-to was the Southwestern Burger. The burger was always perfectly cooked, the guacamole and onions on top really gave it a ton of amazing flavor. Looking over the menu, it looks like this is not offered right now, but I bet the other burgers are excellent too. The corn nuggets were unique and flavorful. I also tried the pesto gnocchi, which my significant other ordered. This was also very good. Overall, the inside of the restaurant had a great vibe, and the waiters and waitresses were always very friendly and attentive.

Great local restaurant with up beat atmosphere, great menu selection and reasonably price. The goat cheese app was awesome as was our meals. The desserts we're homemade and outstanding. Our waiter Larry was on top of things and made the entire dinning experience even better.

The food and service was great. The had a great variety on the menu to select from. The TOP is popular so expect to have a wait. We tried a variety of appetizers and main dishes for an upcoming event for them to cater.

Food was great - loved the vegan options, we ordered the Buffalo tempeh and Seitan Philly along with vegan (by request) fried pickles, the Seitan Philly was delicious and filling, the buffalo was dry and plain but "ok". Our table also had a steak that they said was better then steak houses.
The biggest feedback that I didn't dock for was the water. It was completely undrinkable for everyone - very strong plastic taste, not sure what was going on there.

We try to go here once every time we are in Gainseville visiting our son. Great food and drink choices. Great staff and service!

I flew into Gainesville for a quick weekend for a conference. I saw the reviews for The Top and thought it would be worth checking out. I am so glad I did. I was exhausted and starving after more than 13 hours of travel with nothing but a couple packages of airplane snacks.
The vibe is chill, the staff superb and the food was tasty and fresh. There were layers of flavour in the pesto sandwich....olives, pesto, the bread was crusty and delicious.
I tried the corn nuggets on the recommendation of the server and they were surprisingly good. Creamed corn deep fried into little bundles of tastiness...who knew?
The crème brûlée had a satisfying crunch as I broke the top open and the custard was so smooth I could have eaten 3 of them.
But that beer - a dark fruity lager. It's the loveliest combination of an IPA style of citrus with a crisp finish while looking like a stout. It was so good that I had 2.

It's a Gainesville staple, food generally is amazing, though I have had one "bad" experience with food. My favorite is the vegan chocolate pie!
