Incredibly slow for food that came out cold and tasted bad. Service was equally bad. Normally I’m less critical but this place warranted an exception. Avoid really at all costs.

We had a wedding rehearsal dinner here and the view was nice. It is definitely an expensive menu but they have a happy hour menu with half priced items every weeknight from 4-6pm but you have to ask for the menu; they won't offer it. We ordered the mussels, hurricane shrimp, and a cup of gumbo. Everything was pretty good and the service was good.

When we first walked in the decor was great. Once we received our order things went down hill. The appetizers were good and my salad was good. We had several fried dishes. Can't say much about them because fried is fried..Don't order the cheese burger, it was burnt, bread was hard, and the cheese OMG was shredded salad cheese out of a bag. I had the blackened Mahi and it was indeed that blackened to a burnt crisp. The fish came out in 3 slender pieces..one of them is not pictured because I spit it in my napkin..The waitress was very good but for a $168.00 bill not including the tip, maybe you can decide from the pics.

Great lunch specials and price. I had the shrimp remoulade spinach salad which was excellent and my friend had the lettuce wedge salad and seafood gumbo. 👍❤️

This is a new diner to Destin and is conveniently located right on Hwy. 98. I had lunch there and it was good. The fish was fresh, and the green beans were fresh and tasty, not just the usual. The decor was fresh and clean. The service was good, too. Overall, it was a pleasant experience! They have added a happy hour menu that makes it very affordable at night!

Went for Happy Hour. One of the best high end Happy Hours in Destin. Amazing view of the water. Mussels and Seared Ahi were both amazing. Not a pizza & burger Happy Hour. Two food plates and two drinks each was $45. Totally worth it and will go again in their new location. Hit this place up before they move.

The view outside is incredible and worth going for! I ordered the wedge salad, corn, bacon and crab bisque, and the Mediterranean Seafood pasta that had scallops and grouper. Not sure I would order the pasta again. It was good but not great. The bisque and wedge were amazing though. We also shared key lime pie and the Limoncello cake which were both A+.

We have dined frequently at 790 on the Gulf. But, as of late December, the restaurant has moved and it is now called 790 (it is no longer on the Gulf of Mexico) and it is now located at 14073 Emerald Coast Parkway, Destin, Florida. The new location used to be Jim 'N Nicks BBQ restaurant which closed during the covid pandemic.
The new location has ample parking. That is a change from the previous location which was often short of parking at the restaurant. The interior has been completely redone. The paint is new, the booths and tables appear to be new and everything has been painted. The new location is bright and welcoming.
As in the prior location, there is always a luncheon special available for a reduced rate (Shrimp Marengo is on Thursdays—we frequently eat there on Thursdays largely because of this dish.)
The food at 790 has always been very good. There is a tropical chicken salad that is one of my favorites. The fish sandwich is available grilled or fried and it is always good as well. The fish sandwich usually comes with 3-4 pieces of fish and I usually take some of it home for dinner later.
There is a full bar and prices are reasonable. There is a good wine list and many are available by the glass. On Wednesdays, there is a wine special with 25% off the price of a bottle.
On this occasion. the bartender/server was Tyler Blu. She was very good and added to the quality of our visit. She was knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list and had a pleasant, welcoming demeanor.
On this occasion, the food was even better than I had experienced at the old location. There was a special dish available that was not on the menu. It was Redfish Florentine and accompanied by a dish of green beans with mushrooms. The Florentine was outstanding as were the green beans. I am hopeful this will be added to the menu. I would definitely order this on my next visit.
For dessert, several of us split key lime pie and cajun bread pudding. Both were superb. The pie has a tangy lime flavor with a graham crust that adds to the flavor. I have always enjoyed the superb flavor of the cajun bread pudding. On this occasion, I was fortunate to be able to split it with my dining companions. Even the 1/2 serving is a large dish and more than enough for two people.

Gourmet food, excellent service, excellent view of the beach. The quality of the food cannot be overstated. It's truly fine dining.

Love the 790, disappointed they lost their dining spot on the beach but new location is nice as well. Food never disappoints. When in Destin check them out!
Not to mention their Happy Hour drinks and plates.
