I’m so glad we decided to try this place . Our server Joseph was awesome. The food and happy hour drinks so good. Compliments to the chef best steak I have ever had! Gumbo spot on red beans cook perfectly but need a little more spice for my husband he’s Cajun and loves the heat . This is a must try place here in Destin ! Yummy

First I have to admit the grilled grouper sandwich caught my attention. The reviews reeled me in but I was delighted with the atmosphere, quality seafood and appropriate seasoning and great service!
While everything was bar none delicious except for the over cooked side of veggies, what really impressed my mom and me was the portion and quality of the fish and the bun, oh my god, the top bun.
The tartar sauce was interesting not enough tang but great flavor and creaminess.
Our server Sean was excellent, from greeting to serving and getting a slice of pie with a candle for my mom’s bday dessert.
Definitely recommend this place for two or even a small group.
There’s a Separate Private dining room available too! Place is light, bright and perfect subtle nautical theme.

Out of all the locations that were available I was so happy we chose 790!! The drinks were absolutely exquisite and our server was top tier!! The appetizer and salad was enough to fill me up. The main dish had me ready for a nap!! 10/10 we have to back to try the desserts

We sat in the patio and the view of the beach was beautiful! The tuna appetizer and soup was good. Both entrees left a lot to be desired, very underwhelming to say the least. The crab cakes were mushy (we've had crab cakes up and down the east coast and these were the biggest let down) and the shrimp were a little rubbery. Expected a lot more of the food, will not be going back for dinner. Would suggest appetizers though, but definitely not eating dinner there. As long as you stick with appetizers and drinks you should be okay. The server was nice but I think she was having an off night. Lastly, I don't get why places serve what are obviously frozen fries with their food if the food is supposed to be good food. Fresh cut fries go a long ways. Even five guys serves fresh cut fries and they're a burger joint. This isn't the only place that does this so it's not that uncommon.

My wife and I ate here on a sudden whim -- just in the neighborhood and searched Google for restaurants. We loved the blend of Florida "beach seafood" vibe and New Orleans spice. We started with cups of the seafood gumbo, which was flavorful but not spicy; we were offered hot sauce but we declined. I would probably order a spicier gumbo if I came alone. Main courses: I had the ribeye with shrimp and bbq sauce with a side of mashed potatoes. My wife had the triggerfish and scallops. Both were from the daily specials menu and were tasty, filling, and memorable. Homemade keylime pie for dessert. A pleasant evening made even nicer by the attentive and friendly service from Victoria. Thanks for making our last night here in town a lovely one. We'll be back.

I love seafood when I’m at the beach, actually, it’s the main reason that I go to the beach. I also love Cajun food. 790 was an awesome blend of the two. I thoroughly enjoyed the triggerfish and scallop pasta. My wife had the seafood gumbo. Both dishes were delicious! They also have a full bar and several signature drinks that we enjoyed. The prices are a little higher than some other local restaurants, but portions were large, and flavor was amazing, so the value of the food matched the price.

Hidden gem in plain sight! Stumbled upon this place while taking my daughter to the trampoline park next door. The bar staff was so nice and chill and the food was fresh. Great drinks and chill busy vibe.

Stopped in for a quick bite while we were shopping. Atmosphere is very casual and coastal. Menu has something for everyone. Mainly seafood & gumbo! Full Bar. Service was quick and atmosphere was very laid back. Location is right next to Palms Condos, 2 min from Walmart, basically right in the middle of Destin on Highway 98.

I have been going to 790 for many years, dating back to when it was called 790 on the Gulf and located on the beach in Crystal Beach. I was therefore anxious to try it after it moved into the old Jim n Nick's location. The grand opening in the new location was this past Monday, December 27, 2021.
Anybody who was familiar with the old Jim n Nick’s will notice right away that the layout has not changed at all. This is a good thing though as it was a nice floorpan for a restaurant. The bar and a seating area surrounding it is on your left when you come in with the main dining area to the right.
The inside has a nice new decor with a theme of bright colors, fresh paint, and new floors. The decor in the bathroom was attractive as well; they were upgraded with new mirrors, countertops and tile on the walls.
Although I will somewhat miss the Gulf view, one upside to this new location is you do not have the constant stream of people parading through the middle of the restaurant as they come and go from the beach.
The food was excellent and the menu has not changed all that much. I had a featured special which was redfish with a spinach cream sauce and a side of fresh green beans sautéed with onions and mushrooms.
I am a big iced tea fan and am happy to say it’s still good here, albeit a bit watered down when refilled from the pitchers because of the ice added to the pitchers.
The shrimp Marengo is still the Thursday lunch special, and there are several other daily lunch specials on different days of the week. (for reference, see a copy of the lunch menu I added to the photos on Google Maps) I look forward to returning on a Tuesday to try the salmon.
The key lime pie and the bread pudding were also quite good, and there was an option for a half order of the bread pudding which was plenty for us even when split between two people given how rich it is.
We were told that 790 will continue to offer their Sunday brunch as well.
Service was also excellent on our visit. We sat at a booth in the bar area, it was not crowded and we had both bartenders helping out with our table. They were both friendly and attentive, so our drinks never went unfilled and all of our needs were met.

What an outstanding restaurant! They recently refurbished the place and now it has an upscale beach decor. Very chic. Menu items are seafood with a cajun influence. I had the florentine dish which was excellent. You can order regular size plates or smaller versions, which I liked since most restaurants give you portions that are too large. Also has a bar with tvs for the sports lovers. Located on the main highway so very easy to see. Highly recommended.
