Quick stop for a late breakfast on our way to Colorado Springs. And they serve beer which was unexpected.

While traveling, we decided to get off I25 to get something to eat and do some site seeing in Walsenburg, Co. We walked into the Alpine Rose Cafe, a run down cafe, at 12:15 pm. I immediately noticed that we were the only customers there. Toward the back sat three people talking. A few minutes later a very quiet young waitress came to our table with a couple of menus. After taking our food order, she never came back to our table until the food was finally prepared. Thinking that we were the only ones eating there, we thought our food would be quick. We waited for 40 minutes for our food to finally make it to our table.
I was really hungry so I thought my breakfast was good. No so good for my wife. One bite of her sour rice was enough to leave her plate untouched. She did not want to complained and just said she wasn't hungry anymore. We then went to the cash register and waited again for the waitress to come with the ticket. I gave her my debit card and she charged me what seemed like an amount higher than the prices in the menu. I asked to see the ticket and she rudely replied, "you want to see a ticket", and started writing one. At this point I just signed the receipt and walked away.
We felt very unwelcome and felt they do not like outsiders stopping there.

Just like what my grandma would make me in the morning. The lady ,who I'm assuming owns the restaurant, was so sweet and made us fresh coffee and great food. Would definitely stop again when passing through!

Tasty breakfast right in the center of town. They've been in business since 1920 and the owner has been running it for 46 years. I had chorizo and eggs with some salsa. The salsa looked homeade and it was really really good. 5 stars, old school breakfast! Delicious!

Nice little grill downtown. We usually get a easy breakfast and it doesn’t disappoint.

Filthy. Three-year old ran around the restaurant with a fly swatter whacking table-tops. Glad she didn't try to whack the flies on our table. Every surface was greasy. We will Never go there again. Good luck to the owner however. It looks like she needs a lot of help

Owner was very friendly. We shared the mushroom and swiss burger and she brought it to our table already split on two plates for us; that was thoughtful. If we ever pass through that town again, this is where we'll eat.

Slow....
Missing all the menu items I requested. Served water in tiny glasses. All padding on chairs is FLAT - in sitting on wood. Why?
