The food and service were great. Very friendly staff and customers.

Great food, old west atmosphere, friendly staff & good service. Can get really busy at times. Breakfast & lunch only. We eat here often, never disappointed.

Had the Buffalo burger without cheese. While the ingredients were quality and the portions were large for the price, there was no seasoning on the burger leaving it bland and tasteless. Sweet potato fries were good. My boyfriend had the Mexican hamburger and again the flavors were lacking. Green chili was only okay.

I love the Brown Burro. I have a friend who visits from Miami and when he's here he always wants to have lunch there. It's an hour drive from where I live but it's a very scenic drive. My only complaint is that they are (understandably) closed in the winter.

We stopped in yesterday morning for breakfast, on our way out of town from our first stay in the area. At first glance the prices seemed a little steep, but as there is little choice for breakfast in the area, and we had a long trip ahead, we wanted to make this brunch.
The portions were large enough, and I would say better warranted the larger prices. All of our party of nine really enjoyed there food except my brother, who'd ordered the Mexican pizza from the menu. We all really enjoy a lot of spice, and he saw it came with jalapeños, which he loves, but it otherwise not differentiated as being an overly spicy dish on the Mexican menu. He was only able to eat less than 1/4 of the pizza, as there was literally an entire jar's worth of hot canned jalapeños on his pizza. He let me try a bite (because I like spicy stuff on an even greater scale than he), and I was literally gulping my water and needing refills.
When we questioned the waitress about it, she went to ask the manager and she came back with the message, "he said he's not willing to do anything about it because the menu said it had jalapeños on it." Really? That's how you treat customers? Perhaps you could have come out to view the mound of jalapeños he collected from just the second quarter of the dish.
I highly suggest you avoid the Mexican Pizza, especially since they don't give you any warning that it's a fire-breathing dish. What a huge waste of money, as we had to then provide him food from yet another restaurant because he was still very hungry in a couple hour's time after allowing his stomach to recover.

This is my favorite place in Fairplay. They can be very busy but their chili and enchiladas are the best in the area. However, the beans and rice are pretty much cardboard so get a different side.

This place was great for breakfast and breaking up our trip. Super fast service and cozy decor. Had one of the breakfast specials and it was great.

Huevos Rancheros were the best food I've eaten in months, and the service was friendly too. So good of an overall experience that even though I was just passing through town, it momentarily passed through my mind to hang out in Fairplay for a few hours just so that another mealtime would roll around so I could eat here again. It was that good!

George and Judy have satisfied diners for years. Cooked to order breakfast and lunch...can't go wrong at the Brown Burro Cafe!

There's not a lot of places to eat in Fairplay but I know where I'll be eating when I am here. I am not even finished eating the burrito supreme, but it's AMAZING! Friendly staff and fair price as well!
