Academic Coffee

Cute little shop with plants but the espresso is lackluster. I had the cinnamon latte drink and it pretty much tasted like milk. I needed to taste espresso beans.

Nice, quaint ambience. Too bad there is no seating inside the cafe. They have patio seats, but I don't think I will enjoy it much. The staff is very courteous. The drip coffee I got was really good. I think this cafe follows covid guidelines to-the-dot to help minimize the spread 👏👏.

Seems like a lovely place. Wasn’t very crowded on a Saturday afternoon. The menu is small, which is excellent. The staff are very personable. And the coffee is excellent

This little coffee and pastry cafe was pleasantly surprising, but it misses the mark just by a little. The coffees are pretty good, but not the best I’ve had, and the pastries, while amazing visually and in description, are a little dry and bland for my liking. And lastly, it’s a tad bit too pricey, but I get that they are in an expensive area and need to make ends meet. Still overall, I really like this cafe and their staff have all been very nice and friendly. It’s one of those places that I really look forward to going back to, even if I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s staff and this expectation that the experience is better than the consumption.

Stop waste: good coffee should be served in a real cup ... Not very nice to remove outside chairs and tables 25mn before closing time ...

Best coffee shop in downtown SJ, always love coming here. Love that there's outdoor seating again. I always get an iced honey jasmine au lait (excellent hot too) or iced pandan latte. Used to get their matcha lattes a lot too. Can't go wrong with Academic Coffee imo.

Academic has very good coffee, the cold brew is my go to choice most visits. Also have milk alternatives, like oat milk for those who are dairy free. The baked goods are also a win they usually have things from Midwife the Baker and Stan's Donuts. Our favorites are the almond croissant, expect very flaky w excellent almond paste, and Old Fashion Donut.

First of all. I will start by saying that I am a coffee fanatic. Can always travel an extra mile to taste different varieties of coffee. I like the Philz the best, and Starbucks if near me, so Starbucks is my daily driver. This place makes coffee with a twist. The one I had was orange latte. The orange flavor blended well with the coffee. The have other varieties of coffee's like spicy honey latte, etc. I would recommend this shop to anyone around this area.
