Hob has a pleasant little space for an afternoon sit & sip. The menu is focused a bit more on creative addons than the quality of their espresso itself, and that's exactly where they excel - they have some truly notable proprietary drinks that are well worth a try. The taro latte is a personal favorite. If you're a third-wave coffee purist, this may not be your place, but if you're a seasonally-flavored latte kind of person, this spot should definitely be on your list.

Fig jam, brie, and arugula croissant was absolutely amazing!! Prices are super reasonable for really high quality food and espresso.

So, if you are going to close your kitchen 40 mins before you actually close, then you should probably reflect that on your operating hours. What baffles me is how long does it take you to clean your kitchen at the end of day considering what you offer on your menu? Anyway, I was a vacationer staying a 6 min walk away. Convinced my kids to come with me and prepared to spend a family of 5's worth on food and drink. Well your loss was Chocolat Hillcrest's gain. I ended up driving (same amount of time it took me to walk to HOB) and I ended up spending almost $80 dollars plus $10 tip to the wait staff. I had also earmarked HOB as convinent and attractive breakfast before we packed up home, but they also lost my business for that as well. Probably would have easily dropped over $100 with my clan. Lastly, you might want to update your links and Google maps info because it shows operating hours that range from 3pm to 9pm. If you are staying in Hillcrest while visiting the area I recommend avoiding HOB trying a number of the comparable alternatives within a mile radius.

Great coffee, good food, way too much plastic. If it weren't for so much plastic I would give the place five stars. The service is friendly and competent. The coffee was excellent. The avocado toast was particularly tasty. But why must all of the food be offered in plastic clam shells? How about served on a biodegradable styrofoam plate? And EACH sandwich is brought with a plastic wrapped batch of three utensils. Such a waste. Still I would come back for the coffee. You can do better Hob!

My favorite cup (and whats in it) in SD. On vaca to the zoo? Hit them up on the way. DO NOT miss the opportunity to grab pastries at patisserie Melanie a block away first and bring them in to get ☕️ here at Refill. #1 SD TIP #YoureWelcome

Modern little cafe, not too busy when we went but still had a few people around on their laptops working quietly. Peaceful vibe. Coffee is good, husband got a chai latte and he thought it was really good. We both got brie, fig jam, bacon, etc, I got the croissant sandwich and he got the crepe. Excellent combo, definitely recommend the croissant. Will go again if in the area!

The avocado toast with truffle oil is amazing! We went right around 10 on a Saturday and the service was still super fast. I got the savory crepe with avocado and cream cheese, and my husband got the avocado toast. I'm not sure which one I liked more, they were both amazing. Great coffee, too! Friendly staff, and very nice decor. Highly recommend!

Wow so we ordered the chagaccino with oat milk and oh my goodness. 1. I have never seen anyone foam oat milk so well. It looked like a real cappuccino. 2. The flavors blended so perfectly together. I loved the idea but was really nervous about the cinnamon. I usually find it to be a little too intense in a coffee drink. Nope, this was seriously magical. It’s a little pricey, and we did have to ask to have a new one made because it wasn’t very hot at first but they were super sweet and understanding and didn’t make me feel like the Karen I thought I was being 😅 I usually avoid modern style coffee shops because I think (like with a bar) the older and sketchier the shop, usually the better. This place definitely surprised us though.

Great little place with coffee, sandwiches, and small bites. It was a nice place to sit for a bit and work on the computer. Most of the indoor tables have an outlet. The patio seating is nice if you don't need power. I'll definitely be back.
